Default 8707 Today Theme

Please Login to Remove!

Is there anyway to get the 8707 Today theme without having to download the Vodaphone OS? I am just concerned that by moving off of the latest Cingular OS I am on with my 8700c I might screw up my phone.

If you don't want to load another OS but need a today screen solution than I suggest you have a look at "Pocket Day" from Cross River Systems.

In all honestly though you have nothing to worry about. So many people here have done the upgrade multiple times and I've yet to read about anyone who "screwed up their phone."

Just take your time, be patient and follow the directions.

Using the "search button" would work in this case. This has already been solved.

Look in the Ringtones, Themes and Wallpapers section.

But he/she is looking to install the themes without removing the OS which comes preinstalled on the 8700c from Cingular.

I don't think that's been solved has it?

Yes - you can install the Today themes without trashing or even modifying your existing OS - if you follow Jibi's instructions perfectly.

At least I was able to do it...

So why this statment in the directions........

Important Note:
These themes are supported on the versions of the 8700 OS versions 4.1.0.371/4.1.0.309 (package/application version; currently only available from Telstra and StarHub) and above. These are NOT supported on versions prior to that.

Well, that would explain why it works on my (Telstra OS) 8700. I think the Vodafone theme has problems with older OS. Never tried the Dimension Today theme (which I think is different in design). Thanks for pointing this out.

It is not obvious to me that you can do this either but.... Maybe you can by installing them OTA over an older OS. (?)
I may be tempted to downgrade my OS to the Rogers version this weekend and test this...
If it works, I wonder if jibi would consdider posting Zen for OTA download too. (In fact, with the relationship established between the programming of the Front Convenience Key in Zen and its setting in Dimension Today, I wonder if you might need Zen to run these.)

Wait I'm confused....

Were you able to install the themes on a device with an older OS or not?

Is it possible, as you initially, said or not?

Just want to make sure I'm not supplying people with the wrong information.

It is "he" for future reference. : )

If I load one of these OS's ( 4.1.0.371/4.1.0.309 ) will I lose all of my Cingular settings/themes?

No.

Do a back up first anyway.

So if I backup and install the new OS then I can re-load all of my previous settings from the back up including my cingular theme? Sorry if this is a really stupid question.

Your settings are automatically backed up and then restored as part of the upgrade process.
