Default Phone & SMS BES Log Files - Missing BlackBerry

Please Login to Remove!

I'm running a new installation of BES 4.1.3 Hotfix 1 against Exchange Server 5.5. I'm looking to take advantage of the new features regarding capturing SMS and Phone Call activity within the BES log files. I've configured my IT Policy to log both SMS and Phone Calls (and this is working OK) but strangely SMS and Phone activity for my own BlackBerry (an 8700) is not captured in the logs. Other users on the BES with 8700s do have the SMS and Phone activity logged.

Any suggestions as to why this would be? Is there some setting on an individual BlackBerry device which can stop the BES from capturing the SMS and Phone Call logs which I may have set without realising it?

Do you have the same IT policy applied to your handheld as the others do? Once you apply the policy you will see the log file fill almost immediately. Also, those log files are comma delineated, so they're very easy to look at if you import into Excel.

Confirmed I am in the same IT policy as all the other users who are getting their SMS and Phone Calls logged.

Still scratching my head on this one..!

Have now fixed this problem.

Automatic Wireless Backup needs to be enabled for each user to capture that user's Phone, PIN and SMS logs. I had managed to disable Automated Wireless Backup for my own user account on the BES (with the rest of the users still being enabled) which was why everyone else's logs were being recorded but mine weren't. I re-enabled Automated Wireless Backup for my account on the BES and my logs are now being captured.
