I only purchased after one of the mods said evertything was good to go. So I dont see how no common sense had anything to do with it. I take serious offense to your statement.

Here is what your staff had to say so I thought all was good.

Your explanation of where the keys came from makes sense, would have been helpful information from the first post forward.

Good luck with them

Yep, and that user selling JiveTalk keys flat-out lied about the source.

While the buyer must beware, there are scam artists out there who make it their business to be deceptive--and are very good at their job, just as some sellers make themselves overly transparent.

But I agree, BBF can't be responsbile for these transactions. On that matter, though, I would purchase a used BB here on BBF before I would on eBay, any day.

does this sound like a good first attempt at a "trade-buy-sell" system on BBF?
This might be one of the most ridiculous ideas I can imagine.
Two thumbs down.

actually its not that dumb at all. I visit several forums with similar policies in place we call them brokerages. The sites have several approvef brokers and they do exactly what is described in jgberrys post. They charge ten dollars (5from each party) and it has helped alot.

I agree its all about trust. I have bought many items through this site and would do it again. we cant let a few scumbags destroy a good thing.

That also makes them liable since they are charging a fee...

Example:

I order a Lawnmower and the BBF acts as the middle man. I get lawnmower and seller get his moola... After getting said BBF mower I notice there is a scratch that was not described in the ad... Now I can sue the BBF and the seller....

Very, very bad idea in this sue happy world....

no the broker tells you all bout the item including extra pictures you tell the broker yes or no.
Look you can shoot down any idea you want no one will ever agree on everything. Some people are more cautios than others. Some are more trusting than others.

People are gonna sue no matter what. Just the fact that lunk brings it up proves the point that not every one will ever be satisfied. I know it works as I have seen it workmany times and work well over the past 4 years.

the only way BBF is involved is they help enforce what banning the deal breakers, and choosing the brokers. Brokers are appointed by the staff.

The only way to stop scamming is to not allow selling on a site. You cant go on reputation either I have seen trusted and loyal people turn into scammers.

Totally agree. Now the BBF has to become the mediator in dispute cases. Would it be worth the time or the money, I don't think so.

This forum is free, does not even accept donations nor does it sell overpriced items in a store for profit....

I think perhaps a more active buy / sell trade policy might be the way to go....

Post count number (xxx number of posts) in order to sell, mandatory images of the item(s) and a complaint process where the seller can be banned....

Paypal and credit card companies already have resolution services available...

Woah, now you really need to be specific as to what site before throwing something like that out, and if it is this site (which I highly doubt) you need to pm me asap.

You should take offense, if you don't realize the statement does not apply to your transaction, seeing how I do not know anything about your transaction. Moderators are not staff, they are volunteers, and their opinions/statements are NOT those of BBF, not to mention what you quoted was a moderator saying that it makes sense as to where a license came from, they did not say "Hey.. this guy checks out, go ahead and paypal him the money. Trust me.. I have seen pictures of his licenses"

Seriously..

Considering I am one of the only ones who has been scammed here lately what else am I supposed to think. You didnt clarify who you were talking about so one can only assume.

Moderators are staff they are chossen by you. They may not be paid but they are your staff. You can choose not to call them that and thats fine thats between you and your volunteers.

Look I am trying to help here not hurt. I took offense to what you said I stated what I thought and you disagree its your house do what you want.

Well, since you do not have access to the moderator forum, where things like this are posted, please do not assume you are the most recent. Privacy prevents me from going into this further.

BBF moderators are more like co-workers then staff. There is a large difference between the word staff and the word volunteer. Most people do not like their jobs, but enjoy their volunteer positions, which is why they are volunteering in the first place.
