Hey guys I installed .348 last night and haven't had any problems at all with the install. Don't think I did anything out of the ordinary, just the typical loader.exe

Default BBWeather and 5.0.0.348

Has anyone had any problems with BBWeather (version .86) working with this OS version? When I try to open the application, my phone freezes and I need to reboot.

Any suggestions or does anyone out there have the same problem?

Any suggestions for another weather app that will work with 5.0.0.348?

BBWeather quit working for me back when I was still running 4.6.XXX OS. I bought BerryWeather and have been pleased with it. It has run flawlessly through several OS upgrades. I've settled for now on .314 because is working well for me and I am reluctant to hit my BES sysadmin up to reactivate too often.

Now that I've used .348 for a few weeks on my 8900, I notice a few more glitches. There are still unexpected resets. Sometimes--and this seems very odd--resets get stuck. That is, the progress bar gets stuck at about 2/3 of the way through and I have to reset in order to restart the reset. A few times, the reset goes all the way through, but then I have a persistent clock/wait icon on the screen, and although I can use the 8900, it's very very laggy...and needs a reset! I see this weird reset behavior (sometimes) whether I do a battery pull or use alt-shift-del.

I also note that streaming video from m.youtube.com is a lot more erratic than before. Sometimes it works; sometimes not.

I've seen some odd behavior too with .348 over the last couple of weeks. On waking from bedside mode, it has frozen a couple of times, requiring a battery pull. I've had the screen go black on me a couple of times -- and a battery pull again fixed it. I think I've run into maybe 3 or 4 such glitches. Aside from that, however, .348 still seems to have provided me the best overall experience of the 5.x's. I also created a simple theme for myself that has all the nice 5.0 transitions, allows me to use the 5.x version of BerryWeather, and also makes T-Mo's visual voicemail work, and the overall "look and feel" of my 8900 is about the best that it's been since I bought it the week it was released. Not perfect yet, but I'm really enjoying it, so it will stay on my 8900 until they release something better.

I've been running this for a few days having upgraded from whatever the latest pre-version-5 version of the OS was. I find the device more responsive generally. I like the updates to the UI and the icons (e.g., my BES mailbox now also appears separately from the main Messages folder.

I am not a very heavy user apart from email and some browsing now and then, but I haven't had any problems. I find I can get several days on a charge.

This 5.0 version seems stable enough for me to make the leap. However I rely on UMA. A couple of the early posters mentioned static calls over UMA. If that's the case, I'm going to have to wait. Does anyone else have that issue...or not?

A similar complaint about UMA and version 5.0.0.411 seems to have popped up in a few cases.

Like you, I'm waiting because I need good UMA service. But I'd really like to get the Visual Voicemail app.

I've been using YouMail for that which works pretty well for me.

Guess I'm going to have to hold off for now.

I wasn't happy with YouMail's transcription. For years, I've been paying for another "universal inbox" service for business purposes (onebox.com's executive service with a $10/month transciption add-on), which is like Google Voice but more comprehensive and professional (but costs money).

But an office landline rolling to the Blackberry with Visual Voice Mail may be good enough.

downloaded .348 yesterday and installed it. Thus far have made a few phone calls on UMA and it seems pretty good; luckily, haven't experienced the calling issues that a few others have mentioned.

A few glitches here and there but on the whole of it, a pretty stable release.
