Default how to turn of email reception temporarily?

Please Login to Remove!

Despite some shortcomings and lacking features compared to my Treo 600, I'm starting to really dig my new 7100t, especially the email feature. I love that all my emails are just silently and continuously delivered to my phone. I've noticed that since I have my computer's email program set to check my POP accounts every 5 minutes, when I'm using it I *don't* get emails delivered to my phone (I assume BWC checks at less frequent intervals). This is perfect, as I don't want or need to have messages delivered to my phone when I'm on the computer. However, one thing that kind of irks me is having messages delivered to my phone overnight. Every morning the first thing I do when I get up is turn on my computer and check my email. Now, I also have to turn on my BB and delete all the mails delivered overnight.

Question: is there any easy way to suspend email delivery temporarily without turning the phone off completely? I still want to be able to receive calls at night. TIA.

even if you turn the phone off it will still come when you turn it on. The only way is to turn off the bwc everynight and to me thats a bigger pain than deleting the emails

Jeez, OK, I was worried that there might not be a simple way. How do you turn off the BWC?
Actually, this is similar to another problem I'm having—I unlocked my phone to be able to use it with my Orange France SIM card, but I couldn't register with Orange's BlackBerry service. When I entered my PIN and IMEI in Orange's BWC, it refused me. The tech rep from Orange said it's probably because my PIN and IMEI numbers are already assigned to my T-Mobile service, and you can't have 2 BB services attached to the same phone simultaneously. But I wanna be able to use one when I'm in the US and the other when I'm in France. Anyone know if it's possible to temporarily unregister my phone from my Tmo service to be able to use it with Orange? I see that in BWC you can change the phone you use, but you have to type in another PIN/IMEI. That I wanna do is just deactivate my Tmo BB, and be able to reactivate it later. Any ideas?

Default Another Workaround

Here's an idea. Go into your Profile settings. Look for 'Phone Only.' By default it has all items silenced except for the phone ringer.

I use this one at night (takes some time to make it habit) to make it audible when I receive calls or SMS (for the VM Notification) - the rest aren't even on vibrate just to make sure I'm not disturbed.

You will still get your email, it just won't wake you up!

Hope that is an alternate solution for you!

Thanks for the tip, but I was just looking for a way for emails not to arrive at all, so I don't have to systematically delete them every morning.

But now the more urgent issue is how to be able to use my BB with two different service providers alternately!

If your BB is registered to the T-Mobile BWC, call T-Mobile, explain it to them and ask them to release it from their BWC.

So I called Tmo and explained the situation to them. I was on hold for about 20 minutes during a 30 minute call (thank dog it's a free call). In the end the BB specialist I finally got escalated to said he could deactivate BB for me, but he couldn't be 100% sure it would mean I could use BB mail on the phone with another provider. I hope he just has to say that.
I'll know more next week when I go through with the deactivation and arrive in France.
