Default Device cannot connect to internet in non BB service area?

Please Login to Remove!

I am in Athens, Greece.
Blackberry service is not supported from the Greek Mobile providers yet!

Allthough the service is working through roaming if you have a US or UK provider.

I have a 7230 device from Vodafone UK, SIM unlocked, with OS 4.0

when I use the Vodafone UK SIM everything is OK.
it roams with Vodafone GR and it works fine, receives mails fine and I have a "GPRS" signal

when I use the Vodafone GR SIM I get the "gprs" signal and a "Data Connection Refused" warning
and ofcourse I don't receive mails.
make sense though that Vodafone GR doesn't support Blackberry

but the other thing is that I don't have internet tcp too.

I can't use it with Webviewer or Verichat
allthough the GPRS internet connection in the Vodafone GR SIM is activated and working..
I have set the APN information that Vodafone GR uses but nothing happens..

I even set a Cosmote SIM (other Greek Provider) GPRS internet enabled etc.
with the APN information, but nothing changed.

from the programs I use I get cannot connect or DNS problems etc.

what seems is the problem?

because the 2 Greek SIMs I tried are full GPRS enabled and they are tested with other devices and they are working!! (other mobile phones connected with notebook and Vodafone GPRS pc card!!)

the OS 4 of Vodafone UK I think is supposed to support TCP stack..

so why the internet applications are not working?
is there something else that I have to check?
or if the blackberry device warn about the "data connection refused", drop all the connections????

thanx a lot!!

Unhappy Internet Access also not working!

Hi Vassago,

I am having the same problem as you are. Apparently if the sim you are using is not a Blackberry enabled sim you will not get internet service of any kind even if the sim you are using is internet enabled. It would seem that the blackberry devices can only access the internet when used with bb sims on bb enabled networks!!

If anyone know otherwise I would very much appreciate an answer.

Regards,

Naim

Same here.
I've recently got a corporate BB and I tried swapping its SIM with my personal one, but I get the "data connection refused" message, even if my SIM has all services enabled.

The WAP and Browser configuration entries do not even appear in the Service Book.

Should I try a complete reset of the device?

Bye,

No. Unless the SIM has the BlackBerry Data plan on it, it will not work. Period.

It is clear that we cannot use a Sim that has no BB plan on it.Do there is in Greece a provider that works with BB? Do there is somewhere a list of providers that offer BB services?
