Default BB BES 4.1 & Exchange Personal Contacts & Public Contacts

Please Login to Remove!

We are in the process of looking at implementing BES 4.1 on our network.
We have Exchange 2003, our users have Mailboxes on the server with their own contacts folder, where they store their personal contacts.
We also have a single public folder which is held on the server that has some 6000 contacts.

Using BES 4.1, can users who are given 8700 units access both of these sources of info?. Can they update them individually when out of the office?.

We ideally need our poeple to add contacts to their own contacts folder which then get sync'd into their outlook folder. In addition, we need them be able to update the public folder on the BB and then get it also sync'd.

Any clear pointers would be greatfully accepted.

Dave

IIRC (i.e. verify this), you can sync a secondary contacts folder but it's a one-way sync and you must sync via USB. In other words, changes made to the public folder contacts won't be sync'ed back to the server.

To the best of my knowledge there is not a way to sync your device wirelessly with any contacts other than those contained within your users Outlook/Exchange contacts folder. We have a very similar situation where I work. However, our company directory only contains about 460 contacts. For the 150 or so folks that have Blackberry's, we are manually copying the public contact folder to their personal contacts folder. Then we instruct the users to manually update this folder (by deleting the old copy of the public folder from their contacts folder then copy the latest greatest public folder back to their contacts folder) once a quarter. If someone knows of a better solution for wirelessly syncing a public folder containing contacts please post it here.
