I'm still really happy with everything that OS6 has to offer, and I haven't noticed any of the issues that some other posters are encountering. ( cursor movement, etc.)
One small thing that isn't even really all that important, anyone else notice that in camera mode there is no longer an option to take B/W or Sepia pictures?
Aside from that, I couldn't be happier with this current build. Battery life is absolutely phenomenal. With the last v5.0 installed I would typically HAVE to stick my phone on the charger toward the end of the day or else the battery would die. This wasn't that big of a deal since I use my phone alot. It spends the majority of the day with Wi-fi on and I use Pandora quite a bit. (both of which are huge power monsters.)
With 6.0 I'm looking at nearly 85~90% battery life left at the end of day with normal usage. Just out of curiosity, I left it off the charger a few nights ago and got thru till the end of the next day before I was looking at less than 65% charge!
Memory is still a bit of an issue but it's entirely manageable by making sure to shut down apps that are not in use.
Overall I give it a big thumbs up and I still love my BB!

Re: OS6 For The 9700 Review (PLEASE CONTRIBUTE)
Is available here in Germany (Vodafone) now. Just installed and so far just trying to find my way around the new menus.
Feels a bit like the move from Windows XP to Vista.
Have so far found everything so I am still positive.

Agree. BB Maps was installed on my 9650 by default. I removed it and put Google Maps on in its place. Much better.

Yeah, same here. Good duty-cycle. I run the thing all day - use it intermittently and have 80% left by bedtime. Can't hate that. Just plug it in when I go to bed every night, won't have to worry about carrying a charger.
Oops ... I just realized, this was for the 9700. Sorry - the 9650 is almost a 9700 isn't it? <grin> Actually, the 9650 has twice the memory. Odd ... I'd have expected the higher-numbered unit to have more memory, not the other way around.

Re: OS6 For The 9700 Review (PLEASE CONTRIBUTE)
Awesome upgrade from OS 5 which looked bland after a while of use.
Much more modern and richer UI and I look at the accessibility of options from the main screen. I don't always have to go to Options->...->... I love it.
My biggest complaint is that our phones just don't possess enough app memory and I resorted to removing things like BB Maps and many of my favorites app (that I don't use often) to make up for the lack of space. Unfortunately.
Also, the UI sometimes becomes sluggish or manifests a noticeable lag/response. But it's a small problem to deal with.
I wish they would let us create more views... for me "downloads" is useless. so is frequently used apps. wish I could replace them with my own.

Re: OS6 For The 9700 Review (PLEASE CONTRIBUTE)
I recently upgraded to OS 6.0.0.534 for my 9700. Prior to that release, the cursor issue (absent in IM unless you pressed shift) was a deal-breaker for me, but since more recent releases have solved the cursor issue, I decided to give it a whirl. My two cents:
PROS:
- Better "processor management" - everything seems to be a bit quicker and snappier under OS 6;
- Better battery management - noticeable increase in battery life, from 1 day of intensive use under OS 5 to 1 1/2 to 2 days of intensive use;
- This could be personal preference only, but I find OS 6 looks better and more modern;
- IMO, one easily adapts to this new OS.
CONS:
- A faster Berry and more battery life have come at the expense of worse memory management, i.e. the dreaded memory leak. It's not usually a problem, except sometimes loading a very large web page on the browser. It is advisable, though, to do a memory pull about once a day, which is inconvenient;
- Though it is quicker, I was expecting a bit more out of the browser;
- This last one may end up being a deal-breaker for me in time: the changes in the calendar views were very poorly thought out. I hate only being able to see 4 hours at a time in the "day" view, and I hate not being able to see the entire day at once in the "week" view. I honestly don't know what RIM was thinking for this one.
Those were my two cents. I like OS 6, but I hope there will be a RIM solution to the calendar views issue, because it may turn me off Blackberry altogether...

You need to go to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader folder and delete the Vendor.xml file before you do the install. It should work fine after you delete that file.

There are some of the pre release versions of the software that has the memory leak. I'm on version .448 and don't experience the memory leak. The memory might still go up and down but mine is stable at about 50Mb free.

Also, I think the new interface will take some getting used to. Much easier to maneuver around OS5 I think.
anyway, that's my 2 cents.

I upgraded and chose the option to keep the existing msn, it worked fine.

Re: OS6 For The 9700 Review (PLEASE CONTRIBUTE)
On AT&T version (just came out), like it but, cannot change the theme. Have download 3 themes for Bold 9700 and they install, but no option to add them. No add option at all. I've been told it can't see the themes if they aren't compatible. But these are OS 6 bold 9700 themes. Is it the vendor file that is causing the issue?

Re: OS6 For The 9700 Review (PLEASE CONTRIBUTE)
Installed OS 6 on my 9700 (AT&T). At first my only complaints were minor...don't particularly like the calendar, really don't like the Favorites/Media/Download/Frequent screens (waste of space, was happy using my home screen).
Now I'm noticing some apps that aren't working optimally: Huffington-Post, Weather Channel.
We'll see how important/aggravating these problems are. A return to v5 may be in my future.
Thanks, Jim

Re: OS6 For The 9700 Review (PLEASE CONTRIBUTE)
less than a day after update and mines completely crashed. stuck in forced re-boot due to the required re-boot after having reinstall severa app's that were removed or reset due to the stupid OS6 update
was really annoyed with the update for many reasons: resetting ALL my personalisations and settings, loss of all prior themes/ringtones/app information, no longer reads memory card etc and now that whilst I bit the bullet in trying to manually install and amend things to get it back to how I liked it, it now crashes on me.
this OS has caused me nothing but problems and it's barely been on the phone 24 hours!!
If this is what BB has to offer for the future I'm going back to nokia or may even follow the crowd and get an iPhone. I've had no issues until now, and the phone's just passed the 12 month mark and I had no intention of upgrading....however I think BB's bugged OS6 may have changed my mind. shame.

Re: OS6 For The 9700 Review (PLEASE CONTRIBUTE)
I've struggled along with OS 6 on my 9700 for 2-3 weeks now, and the negative aspects finally added up to too much of an effort. I suspect the problem probably goes back to the fact that the 9700 is too memory challenged to run the new browser, plus certain websites just don't load correctly if at all.
Anyway, I just retro-graded back to good old OS 5. It was a challenge, but am very happy I did.

Re: OS6 For The 9700 Review (PLEASE CONTRIBUTE)
Excuse my English.
My phone is 9700 and my OS5.0.0.979 and BBM5.0.0.57
----
I've installed the OS6 before 5 days and upgrade the BBM before 2 days.
I do really liked the new OS6 but I got one issue, and that is the Browser doesn't work some time (won't launch)!! :/
And for the new BBM, Why I can't install the previous version like 5.0.0.57?
What I want in my device is OS6 and BBM doesn't have the red earphone when I send a b.c.
Q: What is the last version of BBM that doesn't have the red earphone when sending a b.c and support the new OS6?
