Default Random reboots

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys, I tried to search, but not much luck... I recently updated my Sprint 9650 to OS6.0.0.280, I know there .333 out now, but had already DL'ed .280 so decided to load it. As everyone seems to agree, it's very cool, very slick, love it!!

However, and kind of a pita, it has recently starting randomly rebooting. It has only done it 2 or 3 times, but still annoying. Anyone else see this? Or did I just miss that one of the symptoms of this build? I have had great luck with coverage, the browser and all of my 3 rd party apps. I have had BAD luck with battery life and now these reboots... Jump in if you've seen it.

Could be any number of causes, but I would suspect it could be memory related. OS 6 for your device is still in Beta as far as I know, which could be another cause. And finally, any OS 5 apps that you are running might not be compatible with OS 6, and could cause a similar issue.

Does it happen when you are using a particular application?

I assume that it did not have random reboots using OS 5?

It is a beta copy, yes, i am aware of that... But I know this phone will have an "official" release soon enough so wasn't really worried about that part. Also, I have loaded beta copies on a lot of my devices... All with mixed results. How do I check memory on this new OS again? I had done enough homework and reading before loading it, and knew the device had enough internal memory to handle it.

And as far as the 3rd party apps causing it, wouldn't the app just not work correctly if there were some compatability issue? And it seems like it's just COMPLETELY random... I can't figure out a cause yet.

I had an 8800 that would reboot every day or so for no apparent reason. I finally narrowed it down to a conflict with cell tower hand off in a couple different locations. Was annoying, but not something I needed to fix.

A 3rd party app could cause a memory error or conflict someplace in the internals that could cause the reboot. Who knows what loose electrons will do sometime.

Free memory: on that device I think it would be Options > Status - Check the "File Free" status and "File Total" status. Or ALT/Caps Locks/H all at the same time
