Default Unwanted Icons

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, I turned my BB on this morning and noticed a new icon...the BB Apps Store. How do you get rid of icons that you don't want or need. I did the menu>applications and looked for a BB Apps program to delete it thinking it would also delete the icon...there is no apps listed. So, how do you get rid of the icon (also have the same issue with the Facebook icon)?

If it is not listed in the applications for the device, you will not be able to remove it. However, you can hide it. Highlight the icon, Menu button and then select hide.

or you can delete the service book associated to that icon, but next time you take the battery out and put it back in, when the device do a registration within the carrier network those services books will get push again to your device

Unfortunately, yet again, this is a carrier trying to push a service on you, presumably in an effort to make a bit of money from RIM. AppStore is actually pretty good in fairness.

As jjmach has said, your best bet is just to hide it. Don't worry, you get used to it when you have to hide MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, FaceBook, etc, etc, all of which are services RIM are most likely being paid to push on you.

What I do with unwanted icons and carrier bloatware is create a new folder. Mine is labled Junk. I then move anything I don't want or need to this folder. This way you can free up a lot of space on your desktop. If by some wild chance you decide you want to use any of the Junk you know where to find it. This is a little cleaner
than just "hiding" the apps.
