Default Device froze with error 507

Please Login to Remove!

URGENT Please help.
I have a Blackberry 8520 Curve.
Yesterday the phone requested an update, when I did that I got the error message Reload Software 507 and since then the phone is frozen.
I work with Mac.
Not even a hard reset changes anything. I tried to download the OS via the desktop manager but nothing changes, I also tried it on the Windows 7 side of my Mac, no change...

The application loader cannot connect to the device.

Wipe the device using Jl_cmder (see the FAQ for info) and then reload the OS (Yellow sticky at the top of the 8500 section). Make sure that you follow all of the directions and be patient, let the device run its course. It can take an hour or longer.

If apploader doesn't connect, see the FAQ for how to get it to connect with Jl_Cmder.

You can also try using BBSAK - BB Swiss Army Knife. Use Google to find a copy.

Actually, before wiping the device, try this route:

1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop Software
2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):

"c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm

3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.

NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
BlackBerry Operating System Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

I have done all the above comments mentioned, and wiped the device clean with JL_Cmder. Nothing changes, the error 507 message is still on the screen. What must I do now?

The error tells you there is no device software (the operating system, etc) installed. You must reload the software, either following directions suggested by Dubdub, or the method advised by JSanders.

What "still does not work"?

If you are following the instructions, specifically as written, it will.

So, what are you not doing?

What exactly--step by step--did you do? What did you observe? And at what point did the operation fail?

I wiped the device with JL_Cmder and also with BBSAK. Then I tried to reinstall the OS. After going to through all the steps the PC says it cannot find the device and "fatal error".

I have done all these steps several times, no chance.

As JSanders wrote, if you were able to do all the steps, then it would have worked. Are you getting through step 5 and get the fatal error after that point, or where?

Are you using a hub or keyboard or montior USB connection? If so, try again using a connection on the computer. If you are using a laptop or netbook, make sure the computer is not shutting of power to the USB port.

If you have a microSD card in the blackberry, remove it before you try again.

If you have an 8980, then it is either an engineering unit or an illegitimate device. AFAIK, the 8980 has not yet been released.

And it is considered bad forum manners to hijack another user's thread as you have done, especially with a question concerning a different device than the original poster.
