So i know that I can and how to upgrade my curve 8520 to OS 6. However when I asked the salesman about it he said it was a waste of time and just drains battery.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and can confirm or deny this claim.

No OS 6 for the 8500 series. It doesn't have the horsepower to run it.

I actually just called my service provider , Rogers Wireless and they said I could update my Blackberry 8520 to OS6.

No offence, but I trust them more than some stranger on the internet.

However, the man helping me could not answer if OS6 would make my 8520 sluggish or drain battery life. If any one of you can answer, thanks you.

Why did you come here in the first place?

As already asked, did your service provider tell you how to do it, where to get the OS 6 package?

Your question is moot.

I can practically guarantee you that IF there was an OS 6 package for your model, it would be up as a "latest OS" sticky thread at the top of the forum for your model series.

You can believe me on this: You are more likely to find the answer to your problem on a user forum than get the answer you need from a customer service rep. Not always, but most of the time.

I had a 8520 before, I tried to upgrade it to OS 6 but it just wouldn't load. I used my 9300 & waalaaa OS 6, I'm guessing it would be the 9000 series that would have the horse power for OS 6.

And um, there's a big difference between the hardware on the 9300 and the hardware on the 9000. They are not part of the same "series".

It's too bad that the OP has not returned to enlighten us on how to load OS 6 onto his device...

The only way to know if an OS upgrade (fictitious or not) will adversely effect your battery is to try it. The great thing about BlackBerrys is that if you upgrade and don't like it, reverting back is simple.

Call this rep back and ask him where OS 6 is for your 8520, then download it and install it. And please post back with your findings, even if your thoughts on battery life are subjective. Let us know how it feels, if it's sluggish or smooth, etc.

And if you could post a link to the OS 6 file for others to get it that would be super!
