Default 8820 Wifi Opera

I cant seem to get Opera Mini to work over Wifi on my 8820. IT works in the BB browser but not opera, is there a setting that has to be changed? Or is it not supported yet?

I don't think Opera Mini can utilize the WiFi funtionality of any BlackBerry yet.

Read this thread please. I do not use Opera so I can not vouch for it.

Is there a reason it doesn't work. Is opera working on a solution?

I think you would have to ask them.

Are you using the latest Opera Mini 4 Beta? I am using it on an 8820 and the responsiveness of the browser and speed in which it brings content to the display indicates it may be using the WiFi. I have confirmed it does use WiFi by turning off carrier's data/edge connection. Opera continues to work with no problem.

i am having the same problems. when i use the normal version high bandwidth it cannot connect to the network. when i try the low version same thing. when i try beta two it errors out since it cannot connect. When i try to load the downloadeable blackberry version i cant upload it. i am in the same boat. i have found you can change the bb browser to act like ie and that helps surfing some websites. i am trying to get zecco.com to work on my BB. I am new to blackberry but not to smartphones so i dont know. now through all of these trials i cannot remember if i tried it over the edge network or just wifi. but this is on the 8320

This just worked for me on an 8320. Download Opera Beta 4; turn off mobile network (T-Mobile) and then wait a few minutes.

It is working fine on WiFi.

Hmmm..Couple of thoughts...none of which may make a difference.

1. Insure the Settings of Opera include the Network Protocol of 'HTTP'.
2. I actually downloaded the beta over the WiFi using a saved and active WiFi profile. Not sure if that could do it (can't believe it would) and then run the app for the first time over WiFi. All installation, setups and connections I answered with the defaults while using the active wiFi.

What can I say. I followed the instructions:

Download Opera Mini Beta 4
Start Opera. Use it.
Close Opera.
Turn off your mobile carrier connection (not WiFi).
Wait 5 minutes. Try Opera again. It works fine on my WiFi connection.

Why would waiting 5 minutes make any difference? I tried it again and it continues to say connecting until I get a failed to connect to the internet error.

When I first tried it, it wouldn't connect.

I waited a few minutes - which someone else posted in another thread - and tried it again. Been working on WiFi all day since then.
