Default New App: clap'nSeek: locate your misplaced BlackBerry by simply clapping your hands

Please Login to Remove!

hello everyone. this is my first post so please bear with me. I am a developer at a new organization creating blackberry apps. we are a collective of a computer scientist, an engineer, a mathematician and an arts school dropout. we may be small, but we are driven to create (what we think) are novel applications at a minimum price. we had released our first application on App World late last week, but there was a listing error and our app was not listed on the "Newest Applications" category. I dislike advertising as much as the next person, but we are thirsty for responses from the end user! thanks for your time.

clap'nSeek

Description:

End long, frustrating searches for your misplaced BlackBerry® by
simply clapping your hands and clap'nSeek will sound a beacon for quick location
of your device.

- Adjustable detection sensitivity allows clap'nSeek to detect the distinctive 3-clap
sequence even when your device is left inside of drawers or buried in the couch cushions.

- Use clap'nSeek's built-in beacons or use a custom beacon by selecting a song from
your MP3 library.

- clap'nSeek acts as an excellent device locator for those with visual impairments.

- Only runs when it needs to: clap'nSeek's intelligent design allows it to sleep when
it's not needed and to wake-up when your device may be misplaced.

- clap'nSeek utilizes GPS and Wi-Fi technology to determine when you are carrying your
BlackBerry and clap detection is not necessary.

- clap'nSeek's power saving mode minimizes impact on battery performance.

- With a clap of your hands, lost BlackBerry devices are found!

**NOTE**:
Coming in early November, support for all devices including the BlackBerry Tour™, Storm™,
Storm2™. Please check back if your device is not yet supported or send us an email at
[email address], we are working on it!

Price: $2.99 (US)

Are you going to offer a trial download before purchase? In App World the only option was purchase.

If anybody buys this, please let us know if it works! I'm a tad leery. Would get it for my wife if it does and epoxy her keys to her Bold!

hey guys, thanks for your responses! we have been getting a lot of feedback about a demo version since we currently do not have one. internally we were discussing whether or not to release a demo version just a few weeks ago but what ultimately changed our mind was the leak of one of our tech demos. we are a small company of just a few employees, and the release of a single hacked demo on the internet would be nothing less than the end of us. there was a recent study done on mobile games where the appearance of an app on torrent sites essentially ends the revenue stream.. but I'm getting off topic. we have thoroughly tested this application (in fact our beta period was half of the development time) and we are confident in the quality of the product. we believe that our application is worth a one-time purchase of $2.99USD. we hope you guys consider taking a chance with us! if you have any technical questions you can reach us at support (at) dugganstreet.com. thanks!

I think what is meant by demo isn't a limited demo version vs. full version (which has to be downloaded both times), but rather a standard PIN based key system where the application can be gotten anywhere but works specifically only for your PIN. The unkeyed version might work for 7 days and stop functioning after that unless registered.

As a user, I prefer that because I can go to any site to get the latest version, and then enter my key to activate it, instead of having to downloading from certain sites or requesting it from the developers.

As a dev, I would imagine it to be preferable too, since it won't matter if the app is torrented since it needs a key to function and is tied to the user's PIN. If the app is then reverse engineered and pirated, then nothing would have worked anyways and the end result is the same.

Thanks but no thanks, same to all vendors who do not offer a tiral version I will not purchase until I try it. Thanks for the app but you just lost me as a customer and possibly more based on me not telling others about your app.
Good luck on your venture just the same I still give you props for starting your own thing.
Thanks again.

I bought this app a few days ago. I basically lose my blackberry every other day and don't have a home phone. I figured for 3 bucks it was worth a try. I had a bit of a problem becuase I skipped over the inital set-up config. After that I went back and took the time to read the 3 or 4 set up screen and haven't had a problem. It works. I even found my BB in my pants pocket under a pile of laundry, when I went looking hung-over Sunday morning! I changed my settings to only go off when I'm on my home wireless network b/c that's where I usually lose my BB :P.

I would say it's def a useful app when you need it.
