Default BlackBerry working with MAC

BlackBerry with MAC

Morning Campers! OK – we have a friend of ours who does a shed load of work for our company but she is a MAC user; if possible she’d like to get a BlackBerry Pearl so she can get her emails on the move but, better than that, she’d also like to cable synch her MAC to her new Pearl.

Simple question – has anyone any experience of using a BlackBerry device in conjunction with a MAC and, ideally, has anyone linked a Pearl up with a MAC and had it running fine…?? If so what was the process for linking the two items, is there any 3rd party software needed, is this free to download, was it difficult to set up – and, is there anything you’d give as advice or a hot tip to anyone trying it for the first time…??

Any help would be gratefully received

Cheers guys

Default Now i'm worried!!!

Hi Guys,

OK – I’m worried ; we have a client/friend of ours who is a MAC user and quite keen to get a Pearl and sync it via PocketMac. However, I’ve just read a handful of other posts that say it’s a rubbish product and not to bother…

Can anyone give me the full score on this..?? is it worth bothering…?? Is there another product that’s available that could do the job better/is more trustworthy…??

Put simply – if you had to link a Pearl with a MAC how would you do it and what products would you use/where would I find such products. Just to complicate matters I’m based in the UK…

Thanks in advance for any help guys

I've been using the Pearl with a Mac G5 for over a month now. There are a few small issues with the PocketMac Sync software, but nothing that can't be solved with a little perseverance and changing a default setting here and there. I think the new "intel" MACs have some incompatibility, but you'd have to search the forum about that.

I only need to sync my Address Book and iCal calendar, and it works 100 percent perfectly EVERY time! ***A powered USB hub seems to be the key to no problems. My SM Card mounts every time and I can drag music/video/pictures back and forth. I can also connect via Bluetooth AND use the Pearl as a Bluetooth modem!

There have been a lot of issues posted regarding the Pearl, but I have had NO trouble with mine - except the trackball-stops-ring issue, which is really NOT that big a problem - otherwise, it's WAY more stable, and syncs as well or better than the Palm Treo I had before.

About the ONLY thing I can think of that you CAN'T do with the Mac, is use the desktop software and install new OS updates. I'm using the original T-Mobile software that came with my Pearl (but connecting on the Cingular network), and I think the fact that I haven't "tinkered" with the OS is the key to my smooth sailing!
