I don't know about the fatal error, but you may wise to not do the switch device wizard.

Maybe this has been corrected, so take this for what it's worth. I got the 9900 the week it was released on T-Mobile. I used the switch device wizard and then ran into problems with the hosted email address setup. I called T-Mobile and was eventually connect with RIM. The guy at RIM told me that there were issues with BIS and RIM and that sometimes the switch device wizard causes problems when going from an older OS to OS 7. He advised me to do a security wipe, then go through the setup and log in with my BlackBerry ID, and then only restore my data and not restore any settings from my backup of the old Blackberry.

As I say, take it for what it's worth. I'll add that after my experience I saw the same being reported on the forums. At any rate, it won't hurt to play it safe and forgo the wizard this time, especially if you are having problems.

As far as the error, you may be okay if you just do the setup and login with BlackBerry ID and then restore data and download apps. If you have trouble doing that, I would do a security wipe and start over.

Ok,thanks a lot..will not try anymore through the desktop manager as I tried few times and some thing happening. I will perform security wipe, put sim and media card in new device and download apps which I am using. What about pins from my old device? Do I have to again request each and every friend to ''be my friend''? First time doing this so I am not so familiar, don't mind. Thanks.

If Switch Device function is not working for you, you can try your luck in restoring your new device from a previous backup using Blackberry Desktop Manager. If that still didn't work, you can just use a backup extractor software like Blackberry Backup Extractor to extract data from your backup and just transfer it to your new device. Backup should also include BBM contacts.
