Default Trackball problem on Pearl 8100

Please Login to Remove!

I can scroll in all directions but can not select anything. I took out the trackball, cleaned it with q-tip & alcohol but still nothing. Any suggestions?

Wirelessly posted (Tmo's cheapest BB customer)

Are you able to push down on the trackball?

Then the pressure pad under the ball isn't working - either worn out, or just got some dirt in there getting in the way of the contacts.

That's part of the main board and there's not much you can do since the pressure pad is mostly enclosed circuitry.

Mine got to a point where I had to press real hard to get it to read a click. With the ball taken out completely, I tried a can of compressed air to see if I could blow the debris out. I don't know how much good (or bad) it does (since I can't tell if it is completely encased in the pad cover), but it seemed to help. Now I have to press just a little harder than usual.

It could be that I just worked it clear from use and the air blowing actually did nothing.
