Default Bold 9700 - lock function won't work!

Please Login to Remove!

SO. Here's the deal. it's hard to explain so I'll try my best.

I have a BB Bold 9700 and after I did a software upgrade my lock feature will not work.

Previously, If i were to click the lock button at the top left, the phone would lock and would display my user information which I created. The top right button (mute key) would thus put the phone into standby mode.

Now, when I click the top left (lock) button, the phone goes into standby, and when I click the top right (mute) button, nothing happens.

I loved having my user information displayed when the phone was not in use.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can get around it?

I tried turning on the password (which I do not like using) and turning it off again as well as doing a battery pull. Nothing changed.

Thanks ya'll!

new functionality implemented by RIM.

revert back to an older OS (i'm using 5.0.0.415). That's the latest old OS i found that has the password lock and stand by still.

I'm using .442 and it has the lock/standby functions intact.

Download the OS you want, install, go through the upgrade process exactly the same, only it will warn you its a downgrade, tell it you know and want to downgrade, and continue.

here.
your in the 9700 device forum already.
look at the top of the forum for the stickied threads, with "LATEST OS" in them, download the one you want.
(you go to the latest OS thread, move down to end of the post, with "to find the earlier version", keep doing that till you find the one you want)

I have tried to follow your instructions but I can't find any earlier posts.
