I had a strange thing happen and one may not be related to the other. About 5PM yesterday, no UMA at all. Cell network worked, but I lost UMA. I received a few emails over the cell network and they were in HTML

At some point during the night, UMA came back up and at 2:14am I received an Amazon.com email not in HTML. See attached. Then at 2:47am an Amazon.com email showed up in HTML (images retrieved for the pic). It's been fine since then. The one not in HTML shows up just fine when I forwarded it to myself.

Try calling Jamie at RIM, 877-255-2377. He fixed mine.

From reading this post, am i to understand that its possible to filter out all the HTML garbage from an email? Cause that would actually be heavenly!

Well, called T-mobile again today. Spent 3 hours on the phone... and with RIM. In the end, they insisted it was MY issue and not an issue with them. They refused to hear my problem any further.

This is entirely frustrating. I'm seriously considering switching to an iPhone at this point. I will try again tomorrow and if they can't fix it, I'm canceling my service.

What's the point of the BB if I can't read my emails properly.

Can I get an AMEN!!!??

RIM finally solved the issue. Like others in this thread, I am not alone. Apparently, there was a glitch in the T-mobile system (according to the RIM representative... with a heavy french accent ) that automatically UNchecked [a box for] HTML capabilities on some users when they officially switched over to OS 4.5. The rep informed me that T-Mo does not have the capability of changing this option on their end.

Soo, what does that mean?

It means if you are having the same problem, call T-mobile or your service provider and ask them to transfer you directly to RIM. Since they have logged more than several cases having the same problem, they can solve the issue in less than a few minutes just by CHECKING a box.

Maybe this should be a sticky for a few days since I know more than a handful of people are having the same issue.

That didn't solve my issue as I tried this about a week ago.

Like I said, RIM told me it was a server-side issue.

Wirelessly posted (8700g)

My HTML email is working now. After I installed 4.5 OS, the HTML email wasn't working. I deleted all my email accounts from my BIS except my BlackBerry email (I didn't know how to get that one back). Then I re-added all my email accounts back. I went into my Messages on my BB, clicked the menu, clicked options, then clicked email settings. Right there was the option to Enable HTML Email. I selected the check box for HTML and Download Images automatically. You have to check those boxes for each of your email accounts. Then save. The HTML emails look pretty good, still not quite as good as the iPhone.Good luck.

Unfortunately T-Mobile and RIM were unwilling to help me, since T-Mobile has not released the 4.5 OS for the 8800. I guess that's what I get for keeping up-to-date with the OS. I don't connect to a BES, so maybe I should switch to an iPhone??

i had the same email problem, i called tmo they didnt know anything, most of Tmobile tech are sorry, she didnt even know what "html codes" means, i was shocked.. but i told her to transfer me to Blackberry support, they help, unfortunalety you cannot call rim directly without having a ticket number, so if anyone needs the ticket number, send me a ticket number and just call blackberry directley

Default Finally Resolved

Thanks to Mr. T-Mobile's suggestion in another thread, this problem has finally been resolved for me. Here are the steps I followed:

1. Logon to the T-Mobile BIS web site.
2. Select Change Device, and enter the PIN and IMEI numbers from my phone.
3. On my 8800, select Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table and select Register Now.
4. Re-send service books.

I hope this helps anyone else looking for a solution and not wanting to hassle with T-Mobile/RIM.

Edit: Nevermind - this only seemed to change my emails to text-only no matter what the setting in email options. After deleting and re-sending service books again, I am back to displaying HTML code instead of the actual email.

Deleting the account and re-adding them worked - no need for a call to TMO/RIM.

I am not sure why this keeps happening. It must a be a service book download issue. I have found two solutions to get it back. One is to restore it to a previous date from a backup you made. The other is probably easier and that is to delete just one ( you do not have to delet all) of your email account and then add it back. These two seem to work for me. It is still a pain and I wish I didn't have to do it. Hope this helps.
