It wasn't a death grip it was just touch the back of the phone while holding it.
I'm not suggesting it didn't exist, as I stated in my post " much of it" (not all of it) was magnified because of iPhone 4 situation. Apple tends to be an arrogant polarizing company. Therefore much of what involves them is subject to speculation.

In addition I believe it was the press that coined the term "death grip" words that evoke a very strong negative reaction. That said, I've used a lot of different phones over the years and noticed attenuation long before it's recent appearance on the news. After all a cell phone is just a radio, subject to the same pros & cons that have existed for decades.

I don't know about that review. He slams the phone pretty hard especially the fact how he calls the physical keyboard out saying it's crap when it's one of the biggest reasons people would buy this phone.

Speaking from five years experience using various new BlackBerry's as my primary smartphone, I find this Boy Genius Review quite harsh. I've obviously not had an opportunity to evaluate the 9800, yet based on the specs & photos, I find it hard to believe this model is as bad as this review indicates. Yes it's display is low- res, yet very usable and no where near as bad as suggested. Yes, other features may not be cutting edge, yet often that's an advantage as reliability is an asset in itself. My personal opinions of RIM's current direction aside, my first impression of the 9800 is positive. I'm eager to handle one for my own evaluation.*
