Default 4.2 OS Upgrade for Sprint 8703e

Please Login to Remove!

Has this 4.2 upgrade been confirmed to install and work properly on the Sprint 8703e?

I would like to do this without bricking my phone. Has anyone had success?

Is there any new info on this topic?

Thanks for any assistance.

The 4.2 OS for 8700 BlackBerry devices has only been released for GSM models.
Your Sprint 8703e is a CDMA device, so this release will definitely not work for you.
There has been no announcements made about a 4.2 Handheld OS for the 8703e.

I'm really hoping 4.2 comes out for the 8703e. I'd love to get some of the new features on my device

Yeah, I really am pissed that Email Messages and SMS is in the same folder, as well as all the other differences in software ..

Does anyone know where I can get a theme maybe for a temp fix till 4.2 comes out for CDMA? I have SPRINT and 8703e

I wouldn't expect Sprint to release 4.2 for the 8703e before the 8830 comes out from them in July..... why buy a new device if you can upgrade the OS of your current device

There is no 4.2 OS for the CDMA 7130 devices.....only GSM/GPRS devices.

International GSM support
Media card support
Voice activated dialing
Stereo headset support

4.2 doesn't give you any of these on an 8703e ;)

But how can a 7130 which is an earlier device get it before the 8703 which is a newer device? lol, it just doesn't make any sense.

Software upgrades almost always come out for GSM devices first. CDMA phones are always 6 - 18 month behind.

Wirelessly posted (Thumpers 8700c: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Gianni - the Zen theme will separate these folders for you now. You can search for the OTA link here.

Flash24 - I don't think you're reading the response to your question correctly. The 7130 (CDMA) 4.2 is NOT out. It's only out for GSM, which is where 4.2 already exists for the 87xx. I'm interested to know what you're expecting 4.2 to do for you on your 8703e. From what I've seen, many of the 4.2 enhancements won't work on an 8703e device due to hardware limitations.
