Default uncaught exception errors

I just got Uncaught Exception: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException error when I try to go to Browser Options > General Properties.

Any ideas what causes this? I don't have data plan on my blackberry yet, but that error is already in the background (that states device does not have Browser Config Service Book Entries)

you do not have a data plan, hence no provisioning no service books for your browser

I don't have data plan. Why would java.lang.IllegalArgumentException be related to not having a data plan? The "no books" error comes on other times like links to web etc but without the java error.. This error only comes on when I try to go to general settings.`

service books determines what your phone can get and do. If you don't have a data plan you won't have access to the web.
as you said earlier

for browser to work you need a service book for it. To get service boks for it you need data plan(provisioning)

hope this helps

Thanks, that was pretty clear, but my concern is the error on top of it:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException

I don't think this is related to lack of service books.. is it!? I doubt it..

Yes, this showed up after I re-installed the T-Mobile OS.
Please see this topic:
Blackberry Pearl 8100- Uncaught Exception: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException - RIM Blackberry Forums - Pinstack.com

They just mentioned a link from RIM, which didn't seem like a resolution, but I will try.

Thanks.

Actually it could be. Since if you where trying to access a feature that required information information be passed to it, and it instead got a NULL value that could cause it to throw an IllegalArgumentException.

More than likely this is a software incompatibility. If you have for instance changed the OS, but still have third party apps written for a different version you can start seeing exceptions.

I upgraded to 4.2.1.101 and now there are service books already in it. I don't have data service yet, and I don't have the error anymore. I am not sure how much this OS is better, but will give it a shot.
Thanks.
