Default Cellular Video - AT&T

Please Login to Remove!

I recently decided to subscribe to CV. It was an additional $10 on top of my BES data plan. My experience so far is awful. I've tried it using wifi and 3G. The problem is it takes a while to buffer after the video starts playing it will pause after a little, then buffering again, it then continues but this time the audio and video are out of sync. I'm thinking about canceling the service.

Anyone else using CV out there? What is your experience?

Thanks.

I've had some experience with CV. When i first got my bold there were a lot of issues. Recently they seem to have cleared up and I can watch CV with a short load/buffer time (15-20seconds) and I rarely if ever have the out of sync problem you are seeing. My understanding is that CV goes over the 3G network and does not utilize WIFI. Could be wrong...

I think it's a great feature, that works like crap! So bad I have called ATT and the guy I talked to said they get a lot of complaints! I get various things from long buffer times, to errors, to time outs, to not playing at all.

IMO, not worth $10 extra at all! Horrible...... Right after I got my phone it worked OK, but shortly after that it went to pot.

I bought a 16GB card and will rip my tv shows / movies instead of messing with CV.

It works OK when my 3G signal strength is OK - but I'm under the impression that it's free on the Bold if you have an unlimited data plan

Cellular Video will not work over Wifi as the At&t proxy server addresses aren't accessible. I would ditch the plan and just use a slingbox once the client is availble.... hopefully soon.

It comes free with the $30 BIS plan, but is not included in the $45 BES plan. That being said, when i first got my bold CV wouldnt even load. It has since gotten alot better but still takes a long time to buffer (20 secs) and often pauses and stops half way through. I can be in the same spot and pop my SIM in another 3G device (say a Sony W760) and it works with no problems, and it seems to be faster. Cant wait till we get a AT&T OS update.

I've got the more "expensive" $45 BES plan (Since I need BES) .. So I guess AT&T went backwards if you pay more. How backwards.

I have the $60 tether/BIS plan and cellular video works very good. Everything comes in so clear that sometimes I'm completely amazed.

the programming on cellular video is dead awful. i used to have MobiTV on a windows mobile device and loved it. mobitv just released a client for the blackberry bold, which is just great. :D it's the same price as cellular video too.

Hey everybody - can you believe we're complaining because a handset isn't a better TV set?

I would not agree with that statement. What I'm complaining about is AT&T charging me an additional fee for a service which does not work as advertised.
