Question Unlocked for AT&T, No 3G & Activation Req?

Please Login to Remove!

I just bought a Tour from Sprint and I had it unlocked. It does work with my AT&T sim card but it goes back and forth between "EDGE and edge", at it states on the home screen "Activation Required". I have downloaded the new Bell software and I have resent the service books to the phone. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The Tour isn't a 3G phone (I hope you knew that). On GSM it's EDGE onlyl. You may have to call ATT to active it or you have to swap you PIN from your old BB by setup internet Email. Try that app.

The 'Activation Required' message is because you haven't programmed the phone to work on a CDMA network. Without programming the phone, that message will always be there.
You might be able to manually program the CDMA side of the device... not sure if you want to try it.

There is no "new Bell software" for the Tour. It's the same OS as the Sprint released OS which came on your device already.

As already said, the Tour will only be EDGE on AT&T. You won't get 3G.

Unlocking refers to the GSM part only. After unlock, goto manage connections -> mobile network options -> turn the data to ON, network selection mode must be AUTOMATIC, Network Technology must be GMS/UMTS, Network Mode should be 3G & 2G. Fone is fine and can be used.

However, to remove the Activation Required, you need to get the 6-Digit MSL Code from Sprint. Then enter ##XXXXXX (where the 6X's represent the MSL code). If the correct MSL code is enter, you will be taken to a screen where the top says, Mobile Directory Number. Change it to your 10 digit cell #, then press Menu, close and it will reset your fone & reboot and when the screen is back, you will see the name of your GSM provider and My Number will now show your cell number and you are good to go.

I did this on my Telus Tour with success.

Again... unlocking has nothing to do with the CDMA programming.

Call Sprint and see if they'll help you. (They probably won't since you're not their customer.)

If you don't have the correct CDMA programming instructions, then just get used to seeing 'activation required' on your screen.
