Bluetooth with Car
Please Login to Remove!
I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Bluetooth U-Connect system. While I can use my Blackberry over the stereo via a bluetooth partnership I have noticed two annoying problems:
1. When I call someone from my device, I don't hear the call being made or the receivers device ringing. All of the sudden my stereo is muted and the person has answered. (see related problem below) The owner's manual indicates this is a limitation of some phones but does anyone have a work around?
2. Whenever I make or receive calls via my car's bluetooth system there seems to be a 3-5 second delay in which either party doesn't hear the other. For example, when I answer a call over my car's blue tooth system I have to say hello two or three times before the other party can hear me. Any suggestions?

I have the Motorola IHF1000 Car Kit...which I highly recommend. It works flawlessly with my wife's v710 and almost perfect with my 7250. As for your first problem, I have never experienced this issue. With the IHF1000 I hear confirmation of the number I wish to dial and the rings indicating the call is in progress.
As for your second issue, this seems to be a common problem with speakerphone systems. I have had this issue with two previous kits (one non-bluetooth, ie wired). I am just in a habit now of hitting the answer button, waiting a second or two and then speaking "hello." I believe it is an issue with the duplex microphone...although I can't be sure. I do know if the caller speaks right away there is no hesitation on my end.
By the way, if anyone is interested in the IHF1000 let me know. It would be appropriate to start a new thread if anyone is interested so that this one isn't hijacked.

I have the UConnect in my PT Cruiser and use it with my 7100t. Mine, however, is the 2003 dealer add-on option with separate speaker and microphone. Have not experienced your first issue at all, either with a Nokia 3650, Ipaq 6315 or the 7100t. I have experienced #2 with all paired phones.

TellPhone 4000 Blue
I have the TellPhone 4000 Blue and it works well, although it cannot access the contacts list on my 7100G.

I have a 2005 Jeep, with U Connect, as well and I'm not having the same problem. When I dial out I am able to hear the phone ringing before other party picks up and I'm not getting that 3-5 second delay you're getting. It may be the software version you're running, I'm running 4.0.0.198.
One problem I am having is when I get an incoming call that I want to answer with the phone and not hands-free. When I attempt to use the phone to answer the call hands-free automatically activates. Does anyone know how to correct this problem? My only alternative now is to deactivate bluetooth when i want to use the handset. Thanks.

When I want to talk on the handset instead of through bluetooth (but have bluetooth active) I answer the call and before I say anything, I click the wheel twice. This does an "Activate Handset" and effectively disables the bluetooth for that call.

Sorry SUFan, I can't imagine what's causing your issue. The only setting I changed for bluetooth was YES for Trusted (Tools-Settings-Bluetooth-UConnect-Device Properties), but i can't imagine that being your problem. Have you unpairing and starting from scratch? Good luck.

SUfan, did you get your issues worked out? I have a 2005 Grand Cherokee and I am having problems with the uconnect also. My problem is that the person I call can not hear me, and I have the volume on my 7520 up as far as it will go. As for your problems, I have experienced those issues as well. Have you tried changing the settings for volume and ring tones?? I really don't mind not hearing it ring before the uconnect grabs the call, so having tried to fix it. As for your second problem, I do believe that this is just a lag in the speaker of uconnect once the call is accepted. I wait for a second or just say hello twice. Never have had to say it more than twice though. I just wish I didn't have to yell so the person I called can hear me. I noticed that when a call comes in while connected to the uconnect, that the volume indicator drops to half from full, and I am unable to get it to increase once it does!

ndnatty, I have an 05 Dodge Ram with the aftermarket Uconnect and have the same problem with speaker volume. I can hardly hear them at highway speeds. I called Uconnect support and they could not help. Our company IT person is working with Blackberry support to figure it out. I have a 7290.
I have not experienced the other problems. Everyone on the other end can hear me just fine.

I have the 8700r and have the exact same problem as SUFan on my Acura MDX. It is very frustrating and makes the system impractical. I think it is a problem with the siftware on the 8700 because before the 8700 I had the 7100 and it worked perfectly: same car, same set-up.

I had a loaner Acura TL the other day and paired it with my 7130e. It was fantastic. I had none of the issues you guys are speaking about. In fact I loved it so much I think I will get the IHF 1000. Anybody pair that with the 7130e successfully?

I have just purchased a new Chrysler that came with a system called Uconnect. It is just an interface to the stereo system that links to my BB using Bluetooth. The only problem is that it does not make any provision for Nextel's PTT button. Is there a way to use the PTT on the phone and use the Bluetooth system for the phone only?

Double posting will not get you an answer any quicker, as a matter of fact it will bring flaming.

Sorry, it just seem to be a better place to post it after I did the first one.
And I do not have any idea what flaming is but it does not sound good, must be a geek term.
