I just upgraded. No problem. I was able to get to the interface. Wish I didn't. That thing is awful.

I would knife edge 4.1.3 and then upgrade. Worst case scenario you still have the original 4.1.3 to fall back on.

No BES manager from the Start menu. It's a web link - available as a shortcut from the Start menu, though. It's called the BlackBerry Administration Service Console (I think...)

Ok, so RIM fixed the problem. Not totally sure how it fixed itself. All we really did was another in-place install of v5.0 over my existing v5.0. But its working. Albeit a little buggy. So far Dispatcher has crashed 3 times on me... I hope that doesnt continue.

Oh how I wish that were true, but on my Mac running Safari and Firefox, No Dice.

Other than that all systems go!

What DB server are you running?

Did the installer complete? And where are you getting this error message - in BAS? You should no longer see a Windows GUI BES admin console available to you anywhere after an upgrade.

I am using SQL 2005 DB on a seperate server. A main BES 4.1.6 on one server using this DB and another backup BES 4.1.6 also attached to this DB which I tried to upgrade/free install to BES 5. I was unable to access any of the web pages "page unavailable". I went on the main BES 4.1.6 but the manager program is no longer available "DB version greater....."

I've tried to restore the SQL DB back to before upgrade but can't. Have done another thread for this.

Yep - during upgrade on an existing database, there's a big huge hairy message thrown right before the db upgrade that notifies you that the database will be upgraded to 5.0 levels.

You're gonna want to restore your db from backup if you're trying to move backwards. The restore process you've mentioned in the other thread is correct for SQL 2005.

Pity I cant upgrade from 4.1.6 to 5.0. Dont have Tech support. Got to spend $999 if we want it and for 35 users it aint realy worth it.

I've got a BES 5 running on 2k3 VM server, Domino 7.0.3

So far I don't like the BAS interface. I'll get used to it, but it is taking forever to find stuff. I need to adapt, but at the moment the layout just feels illogical.

Windows 2003 is, by far, the best route to take at the moment.

This is not saying anything about RIM or BES 5.0 - it's meant more as a commentary about Server 2008 (which, in a word, blows).

I'm sort of getting used to it.

My beggest complint so far is the user display. I used to have it set to display info useful to me, name, model, OS ver phone number, PIN, IMEI.

That functionality is now gone.

I hate Web interfaces with a passion. They are too limiting.
