Default 9700 Protection...

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there all...

Have just been converted to the world of the 'berry by means of a Voda Bold 9700 that ive had for a few days now.

What are peoples experiences of the phones resistance to scratches, both on the screen and the surrounds?

I like the holster that came with the phone and also have a Case Mate barely there plastic "skin". If I use the 2 together then its harder to push and remove from the holster. I am then worried that the extra "grip" will scratch the phone.

What are peoples experiences and thoughts please.

Steve

Wirelessly posted (White and Nerdy)

I currently have an invisible shield for the screen. For the phone itself, I use the OEM beltclip slipcase and I have an otterbox commuter on the way from amazon.

I have had BBs for years and find them to be above average when it comes to scratch resistance. I only use the cases that they come with.

Over time they can get nicked up or scratched, but I have never been really unhappy.

I use the Otterbox. A bit on the pricey side, but looks pretty cool and offers good protection without over doing it.

Default Using Otter case

I just got my B2 several weeks ago and am using the Otter case. As the other posting mentioned it is pricey but does offer good protection. On the screen I have a film, the kind that peels and sticks, been using this type for a couple years for the Curve 8310 and it works well. That was the only protection I used for the curve. You'll find these phones hold up well but the body does get nicked up and all. Good luck with the bb.

I recommend the Otterbox Commuter. It adds surprisingly little size to the phone while still providing the best protection IMO. It also makes the phone much more grippy and easier to hold on to.

It won't fit into most if not all belt clip cases with the Otterbox installed, but what I use is a small digicam pouch that either clips on your belt loop or still fits in a pocket. Works well.

I use the Otterbox Commuter and an OEM Bold 9000 holster and it is a perfect fit. The 9700's case was a tad too tight. I also have the Clear-Coat invisible skin on the whole thing.

I have a full body clear skin on mine from Best Skins Ever... I was going to get the 25 dollar one at the Tmobile store but this one was just as good and 10 bucks.

It takes a lot of patience to put on though. But its almost impossible to tell there is anything on the phone.

U can use the pouch for the curve which is I did and the phone fits perfectly with the case-mate bvarely there on, which I use also. I was also thinking of getting the clear-coat that protects the phone with a clear skin.

I use the Otterbox Commuter case and the Roots TuffSkin holster. That combo works well for me.

as for the screen its crap compared to an iphone screen it scratches from stuff you cant even see!

get a screen protector! after all the screen is plastic, i'm still amazed how easy it scratches.

Wirelessly posted (bold 9000)

The 9700 is a great phone. I also had the 9000 for about a year. Didn't use anything to protect it and haven't had a problem with anything. Remember this is a phone and not a ball or toy to be throwing around and won't have any trouble.

I also recommend the Otterbox. I came from a Bold 9000 and the Otterbox gives me the protection I want with the feel of the old Bold in my hand.

Otterbox all the way... I had a SEIDO case that was great, but every drop magically landed on the shoulder buttons which were the only unprotected part while cased! Otterbox covers everything.

I'm notoriously hard on cellphones.... So for my first BB I went with a screen protector- annnnnd an Otterbox Defender case. Pricey, but well worth it imo. It's already survived a 4 story fall out my window, with nary a scratch (did I mention I've only had the phone for a month and change?) It comes with a sturdy swivel-clip, and it's own screen protector as well. It definitely adds mass to the device, but it feels invulnerable. I gladly pay that price tho' ;)

Incipio EDGE is a great case. Comparable with the Otterbox Defender but a little cheaper and belt clip stays put. Check out my signature for plenty of case options.

I've gone to the Otterbox Defender for the extra protection. Works like a charm. I can now switch between the Defender and the Commuter whenever I feel like it now.

I have an otterbox impact series silicone case on my 9700 and I really like it, it even covers all the buttons with silicone and they still press easily, and like most otterbox cases, it came with a clear screen protector, and best of all, only cost 14 bucks on ebay with free shipping!
