I used a simple Browser Channel Push java example to display an item on the BB Desktop when an event occurs.

The Icon opens the BB Browser. Is it possible, that the Icon opens an application on the BB?

Basically I want to have a simple notifier when an event (which I can trigger) happens. Or is there another (more simple) way instead of the Browser Channel Push?

Don't do a browser push if you don't want to open the browser

Your BB app can listen to a port and you just need to do a simple http push to the port much like a browser channel push..

Thanks for your reply. Do you have any sample app? I am using the MDS Studi to develop applications. How do I configure the MDS Studio to listen to a specific port? Or does the Studio listen to a standard port?

Download the standard JDE + MDS Simulator.. There are lots of sample codes..

The MDS Studio is a separate thing that is a totally different..
