Unhappy Blackberry lost most contacts. Will not re-sync contacts.

I work as Desktop Support, supporting my local government with all there pc problems.

We use BES 4.0, and Outlook 2000.

Sorry for the long winded info. Just want to make sure I'm being clear.

I received a call from a user that most of her contacts were missing from her Blackberry. Her blackberry was set to Wireless syncronization when this happened. She should have had the main contacts folder, as well, a sub folder. The sub folder was still there. However, the main contacts list was missing from her blackberry. I disabled the wireless syncronization and performed a sync using the data cable. Then turned the wireless sync back on. Unknown to me. The data cable sync had the odd effect of deleting almost all contacts from her outlook address book. The next day I checked her deleted items in Outlook. All the contacts were still there. So I have moved them back to her Outlook Address Book. However, they have still not sync'd to the blackberry through wireless. Is there something I need to do on the BES to make it push those contacts onto the blackberry again? Some type of Forced Sync or Send?

This just happens with us sometimes on groupwise. After a day or so they will usually come back.

If not, might want to try reactivating her device.

Yah, that's what I was afraid of. I guess I'll delete and redo her account.

So if I left her blackberry alone (before I did all that work on it). It may have come back on it's own?

Ok, I have ran an Enterprise reactivation. Did not work.

I then did a wipe on the phone, and an Enterprise re-activation. All things were back (Email, Calendar, Tasks, MemoPad wirelessly re synced) EXCEPT the Address Book.

Is there a way I can force the BES to resend the Contacts from our Exchange server?

I am baffled.

Wow, I just answered this question for a co-worker about 10 minutes ago. The BES probably needs a reboot, or atleast the services restarted. One of the processes, in our case the Blackberry Controller, had a memory leak and the server ran out of VM. Look for BlackberryAgent in the Task Manager and see how much Virtual Memory it's taking up. Also check the Performance tab to see if you have any left. If not, time for a reboot. Hope this helps.

We've been having this exact problem for the past few months, occurs every couple of weeks and a reboot fixes the problem. We're running BES 4.0 with SP1, Exchange 2003.

Does anyone know if there is a permanent solution to this problem, or if updating to SP3 will solve this issue?
