How do i know all the data has be backed up?

I backed my phone up on saturday as I was having trouble with the tracker ball. Now none of the keys are no longer functioning correctly but before i take it to the store to be looked at i need to know that all my phone contacts have been backed up

Many thanks

Welcome to the forums.

Did you use Desktop Manager to create the backup? If so, you should see something like LoaderBackup-(2009-09-29).ipd. Search your PC for ipd files. They will be your backup files.

It should be as easy as "Restore Back-Up", and select like jsconyer has mentioned your latest backup file and everything should be loaded back in.

EDIT: You shouldn't be able to open the file on your computer, it is formatted for a blackberry device.

When you plug the phone in via USB what happens?
Is it connecting to the PC correctly?

i am returning my phone to the store tomorrow as i've only had it since march however, i need my numbers off it for work and i can't get onto it to retrieve them.

The tracker ball on my phone has been playing up for week, it doesn't click to open applications. I spoke to O2 who said to return it to my nearest store and they would send it off to be repaired. Today i dropped in on the ground though not from a great height, the ground was damp and since then the phone has failed to function correctly.

Search for a program called ABC Amber Converter - that should be able to read your backup (IPD) file and give you the contacts.
