Are all Exchange servers local? If not, what are the ping times? Unable to save configuration settings and stats warning means that it could not access the mailbox at that time so it keeps trying.

I would look into both the BES and Exchange server performance and network latency as well.

Also, is MAPI32.dll the same on both the BES and Exchange?

My experience is with BES 4.0.x, but I've seen the 20301 error in the following situations:

1) BlackBerry user has been "hidden" in Global Address List (GAL).
2) Exchange server is inaccessible to BES, or the user's mail store has dismounted.
3) BlackBerry user's mailbox is moved between mail stores on same Exchange server, making it inaccessible to the BES until the Agent is restarted.

The first one can be detected/corrected in ADUC.

Usually the second case is easy enough to see, as you're flooded from calls from users that share the same Exchange server or message store.

To test the third case, use the IEMSTest.exe utility in the /Utility folder for the BlackBerry installation. If the mailbox is accessible using the test utility but the 20301 errors persist, restarting the BlackBerry services seems to resolve the issue.

Hi there. I have same errors as the thread starter.

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: BlackBerry Messaging Agent MNLBES Agent 1
Event Category: None
Event ID: 20301
Date: 5/xx/200x
Time: 12:24:36 AM
User: N/A
Computer: BESSVR
Description:
{user123@domain.com} Unable to save configuration settings or statistics

I did a test using the IEMSTest.Exe utility. The result was for the user123's mailbox can be accessed BUT the creation of a folder to the mailbox failed.

What does this imply? I checked the Blackberry Service account permissions on that mailbox and it is the same with all the other working mailboxes.

Please advice...

Creation of a folder failed means that you are missing the Administer Information Store permission.

Does this fail for only this user? If so, it's more than likely a mailbox issue. If this does fail for multiple users, then you are missing permissions.

If permissions are set correctly and are inheriting down to the mailbox and public folder store levels then it may be an account issue with the BESAdmin.

Thanks!

I tried it and the the event logs are gone!

What I did was went down to the Exchange System manager, Administrative Groups, I chose the Administrative group of the user indicated in the event log (actually it's more than one user and they are all in the same A. Group)

Then went to the exchange server, listed under "servers" then check the security properties of my BB service account and found out that "Administer Information Store" permission. Also I verified that Send as and Receive as is also allowed, as this is also needed.

here is the link for proper BB service account permissions: BlackBerry Search Results

Thanks all!
