I just realized... I'm a "thumbs must hurt" poster..
my thumb DOES in fact hurt right now from using my phone =0

I'm trying to get my dad to get me the 8120 when it comes out as a birthday present... but I'm not sure he's falling for the "I want video capabilities!" argument =( unless 4.3 does predictive text and video! Then I'll stay with my light up trackball!

You and I need to not reply to each others posts, we get off topic

I apologize for thread hacking hehe

Suretype is "da bomb!"

Well said. Suretype is a nice feature. Learn it, use it and enjoy.

Default quicky multi tap?

After reading this thread and a week of practice, I'm a convert to Suretype. But there are few occassions when I need to quickly go to Multi tap (not real words, etc). I would like to "shortcut" this without having to go back to <Options/Language/...> which fixes the input method. I would like to have a shortcut to change back and forth like was available on my old 7100i.
I can change Languages by pressng ALT & Enter keys, but the Multi Tap vs SureType options aren't there. Just "English (UK)" vs "English (US)".

Is there a shortcut to Multi Tap I'm missing?

Well, on my 8100 while in a text box I can go Menu - Enable multitap
thats a little faster :P

Does the 8130 have that option also?

8130 does have that menu option. I just had to scroll down further.
Though still not as fast as a single button click, but it'll do.
Thanx!

Yep, that's the quickest method.

Heck yes! I helped

The other way I've learned, even though they say "not to look at the screen"
is to look at the screen while in suretype mode and change the letters as they pop up, if you KNOW it's not going to know the word (for example my email), I just don't let it guess and change the letters one by one :P

That is slower than multitap though :P

It should learn your email address. Once you type it in once, it should learn it. Also, when someone else sends an email to you it should learn it. If it doesn't, add it to your custom wordlist or add yourself to your address book. Then it will know it.

Well, it did learn my email address, I was just saying =)

My phone does do some random thing when I do a reset though... sometimes it'll "forget" the last words that got added to my wordlist in the hours before I did the reset, or it'll add back words that I deleted from the list

And why does my cow keep disappearing from my signature?!

I have had my 8130 for two weeks now and I still hate sure type! I have my options/language setting to enter in multitap but most of the time I still have to go to the menu of whatever I'm using and enable multitap.. That's annoying.. But nothing compared to the awful sure type

I guess you haven't read this thread. People who hate suretype don't know how to use it. Otherwise you'd definitely prefer it over MultiTap.

No, it's just a personal taste issue... I just prefer multitap.

I know. It's one thing to 'prefer' a full keyboard over SureType. However, when one uses multitap over Suretype I know they're not using suretype correctly. Read this thread and you'll see. SureType works VERY well. I used it for two years and loved it.

I have read the thread, and I gave Sure Type a bit of "trial time"... Just not something I like. I find I text much faster using Multitap

Ok...But, I'm telling you, you didn't give it enough "trial time" or were doing something wrong. SureType is SO much faster than Multi-Tap. You should see my 13 year old daughter go to town on her Pearl!! Your 8130 also has predictive SureType (where it lists possible words you may be typing.) You don't have to use that (it can even be turned off). You just type your full word, as if it's a regular Qwerty keyboard hitting each button once regardless of which letter you want, without looking at what is being typed as you're typing it. When you're done with the word, look down at the word. It gets it right 95% of the time. Also, it will learn your own custom words over time and knows names that are in your address book. However, suit yourself.
