Default 8320 as a modem! Help!

Please Login to Remove!

I have an 8700 that I use with my Vista laptop all the time. My girlfriend has an 8320 with an older XP laptop and I cannot get hers to work. I have it connected and it says its connected but when I open IE it will not find a website. Any ideas on my problem? Thanks.

It would help if you could post details of the OS versions of each Blackberry, which carrier each of you is on, and which PC OS you're using.

I set my 8310 up recently following the instructions here:

http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.p...Berry_As_Modem

The only problem that I had was an inability to follow instructions; I initially added it as a "Standard 56k Modem" rather than a "Standard Modem" which didn't work.

If you haven't done that, and the Blackberry modem replies when you query it, I'm guessing that your girlfriend's SIM doesn't allow access to the whole Internet, or you haven't set up the APN correctly. Once you post details of what carrier she's on I'm sure that someone will chime in with the APN information. You could always test it using your BB on her PC of course (making sure that you don't inadvertently change her email accounts to use your BB) or even, if the devices aren't locked to different carriers, your SIM in her BB.

We both have t-mobile. My 8700 has the 4.5 os and her 8320 has the 4.2.2.180 that came on it from t-mobile. I can use her BlackBerry as a modem with my computer but neither of our BBs will work on her computer. Any ideas? I have setup a new connection about 4 times and every time its the same thing. Do i need a different modem driver for windows? Thanks

you might need to contact t-mo, I had to because they changed some of their initial strings for the curve or at least that's what the bb csr told me. good luck

If your not getting a dial tone, make sure you had the Blackberry desktop manager installed before you made the connection. If you didnt, delete the connection and make a new one.
