Where can we download version 2.1 ? The app looks great but it is pretty useless without uploading capability. I would register the app if I could.

kolev, just curious about something. I know you and your company have been very active in the BlackBerry developer community with regards to your dictionaries and bibles and other bookware. With that said, as you have mentioned previously on this thread on the future of this software with regards to support and further development/enhancement, why not open this up as an open-source project? It seems that you have had a base project developed and offered for free, and I'm sure others would be more than happy to take on the project to a new level (of course, never deviating from that for-free offering model).
Just a thought. I've not seen many open-source device software projects for the BlackBerry platform, so I think you would be paving a very nice road for the rest of the community.

When will a version that works better with the Storm be available? I liked what I saw, so I didn't mind paying the $10 license to help support this product. But, I am hoping that I will have a version that will work with my Storm. When I use 1.0, it operates only in portrait mode, and the keyboard is fixed to SureType (although I have Multitap selected in my phone preferences).

To follow up on my own post, after George suggested that I disable compatibility mode, both issues ceased.

Download 2.1 and paid the 10 bucks last night. Here is my problem:
I can connect to my FTP and view all the files, however, when I go to download a file from my FTP to my BB using the TCP connection, it starts downloaded then just stops. I cannot download a complete file. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Can you elaborate on what is wrong with the upload?
I checked this tread by chance today...apparently either the thread subscribtion service at bbforums or something else does not work, but I have not gotten any notification about the posts here.
I don't think we'll take this as open source. We don't have the experience or even the mentality to support open source projects.
The topic of why would a company support open source is a long one I guess, but I tried to find a simple answer and it is that a company would do that when it has a long-vested interest in building a community that enhances its market presence one way or another.
If we had a platform it may make sense to take that open source, e.g. our dictionary and reference platform could be a potential open source project.
BeFTP...is nothing like it. Providing it open source would be just giving it out, nothing to be potentially gained back.

BeFTP 2.2 was just uploaded and is available for beta test at http://mobile.beiks.com/beta/ .
Should be working now on Storm as well. It might not be pretty, but it should be functional.
Also fixed is the WiFi support, which was malfunctioning in the latest public version due to a typo in the program.

BlackBerry FTP client BeFTP 2.2 now official
After passing the public beta evaluation BeFTP 2 has went live a few days ago.
As mentioned above, new features are:
- Upload files
- Group file download (all files within a folder can be downloaded with a single command)
- Built-in simple text viewer
- WiFi support (waaay faster when you have it!)
- Support for BlackBerry Storm (not perfect, but functional)

Hi,
I purchased the 2.2 and find that when I got to my ftp site, whenever I click on my folder, there is no action and it reverts to the first folder on the list.
It is very hard to describe but perhaps I can send you pictures of what I mean. How do I take screenshots of my bold?

First, take the latest beta from http://mobile.beiks.com/beta and try it as well.
It adds support for more FTP dialects / servers , but it certainly does not cover them all just yet.
If it still does not work, the best thing you can do is provide us with user account on the server you are using.
Granted, of course, it works normal with other servers, i.e. our own beiks.com, which would mean the problem is not in communications (and we see that a lot...may carriers are blocking port 21 for whatever reason).

Is there anyway to add in Active mode? Some servers I need to connect are dropping the data connection after the List command on Passive mode but work fine if using Active mode.

A new BeFTP 2.41 has just been updated to the Beta section.
There is internal resume of broken downloads and it reliability has been greatly improved, just tested it myself...downloaded 10MB file.
Still some problems with uploading...working on those...

I downloaded beta v 2.41 on a curve 8900 4.6.1 (OS) and the issue with not being able to view other folders on certain servers posted by westbeach above -- is resolved. Now, i'm able to view and download from my home ubuntu 8.10 LTS server.

Memory Leak
It "seems" like if I leave BeFTP v2.2 running in the background, my device eventually "white screen of death" and has to be restarted. Anyone else have this issue? I have not pinned it down to BeFTP but am very suspicious...

nable to download
Greetings
I can't for the life of me see how to upload a file to a remote server. I can download ok, but can't see a menu to upload a file, which is what I really need to do. Looks like it will be a fantastic tool if I can get it happening.
The about says I am running version 2.5.
Thanks

Are you a registered user of BeFTP? The upload feature is available for registered users only.
When you register BeFTP on your BlackBerry device, login to your site (not as anonymous) and then open the menu - you will see the Upload command there.
Hope that helped!
Sincerely,
BEIKS Tech Support
