Default Political Season

Please Login to Remove!

Well, the season of politics is obviously upon us. Yesterday I received 2 calls purporting to be "political polls" but both of them clearly direct marketing pitches for a specific candidate. Questions like:

- What do you think of candidate X's life long habit of enjoying carnal knowledge of barnyard sows?

__ It disgusts me

__ He should be arrested

...etc...

Both parties are putting them out, and they absolutely revolt me -- more than a candidate who might enjoy carnal knowledge of a barnyard sow!

I debated whether this should go here or in rants; I elected to place it here because it strikes me as conceivable that some yahoos consider those bogus polls to be the cornerstone of good political out-reach and may want to defend their BS.

I think we need vote everyone out, starting at the top and start fresh.

I hate partisan politics. i hate pork barrel politics and I despise negative campaign ads.

But then I went to college with Mr. Negative himself, Lee Atwater.

I just finished helping the Congressional Candidate in FL Dist 17 and she won out of 9 person field. I thought it was a rewarding experience but I agree with the posts above me

Are you an active voter or in a union? That may explain why you were called in the first place

I am an active voter -- rarely miss any election, including the local referendum and off-year elections -- but I am far from being a union member.

You are probably 4 or 5 I suppose so you will get every call, every mailing etc. The number is how many times you have voted in a given period of time.

It might be time to start checking the Caller ID a bit more closely.

You're just getting started? You're lucky. I've been getting calls for months. The Governor and Senate primaries have been brutal down here in FL. I swear if I get one more call from Rick Scott or his wife, I'll, well, hang up again.

I'm tempted to start saying something like, "My spouse doesn't like me associating with known prostitutes. She'll come after me with a 9-iron just like Elin did to Tiger." and then hang up.

That might just work. Another think to try is to just answer the phone, set it on the counter and walk away for a while.

Yes. The senate races and governor races will also be interesting until the end in my opinion

Yes, I have received calls asking me for my opinion and normally I hang up on them. When I do talk to them I tell them I a libertarian that believes dishonest government officials, elected, salary or otherwise, should be executed publicly using the short drop method. That is normally good for a couple of minutes of conversation with me controlling the questions. Why do that? It wastes their time.

Has anyone received one of these poll calls on their cell phone?

Agreed.

You know... all I really need to know about a candidate is this: "Do any of the changes you intend to make involve spending money; and if so, do you intend to borrow any portion of that money?"

Anyone who answers "yes" is not someone I would consider voting for, no matter what party they were from or what issues they were supporting.
