Default Windows 2008 64-bit

Please Login to Remove!

This is going to sound silly and I'm sure I know the answer to this but:

Can I install Exchange System Manager onto a Win2k8 SP2 64-bit OS? I don't think I can as per this link I found: BES Express 5.02 with Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2... - BlackBerry Support Community Forums

I'm in the process of putting a new BESX installed onto a Win2k8 64-bit OS into an SBS2003 environment. The client already has a v4 BES server running Win2k which we are going to remove.

I guess not having the ESM installed is causing these prerequisite warnings:

- Mismatched Microsoft Data Access Component (MDAC) versions recorded in the registry
- Unable to find Collaboration Data Objects library (CDO.dll)
- Microsoft Exchange Server detected (MAPI version 1.0.2536)

Sweet, I think I've fixed my own problem! Installed the ExchangeMapi CDO's and now I'm just left with that MDAC warning.

The Exchange 2003 server has a mapi32.dll version of 6.5.7654 but the Blackberry installer has 6.5.8190 is this going to cause problems?

Thanks. It looks like I can actually progress onto the next setup section. I'm not sure what problems lie ahead if I haven't resolved the MDAC warning.

Everything else in the preflight check is ticked.

Well I've progressed on and now hit this message as the MAPI settings:

The setup application could not initialize the Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI client. Make sure MAPI is installed and Configured correctly.

I've already installed the MAPI CDO's as per my last posts.

Seems that running IEMSTest has allowed me to progress

I've finished the install and I'm now able to log onto the console but I'm sure I saw a problem in the IEMS test about sending as, which I'm sure I've set at the domain root.

How did you end up resolving the MAPI issue on the BES server? I am having the same issue.

Cheers,

This is from the 5.0.2 Release Notes:

When you install or upgrade a BlackBerry Enterprise Server on a 64-bit operating system, a warning message might display
in the Preinstallation Checklist dialog box about mismatched MDAC component versions. You can safely ignore this message.
