Default Unique email account Messages Alert

Please Login to Remove!

Hi People,

I have a number of email accounts registered with my 8800. It appears that whenever I change message alert settings (tones) for the accounts, they get cascaded across all the accounts. I thought the point of this was to be able to set unique message tone alerts? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,
-conker

Are you changing the individual e-mail account notifications in your profiles?

I have different ring tones set for emails and it is based on the email account. In the PROFILE settings, choose ADVANCED and then select one of the profiles (eg, NORMAL) from there you should see the categories -Browser, Calendar, etc, and there should be entries for each email account. It should say something like Messages [john@johndoe.com], Messages [john@gmail.com] and so on. You can select any of the categories and by highlighting and pressing the trackball you should see the configuration screen to customize the ringtone/vibration/settings for each.

Yep, unfortunatley, I am doing this. I've tried numerous times, I guess I can try again...

I just tried pulling the battery, but this did not fix the problem. I guess no one else has experienced this issue? Argh!

I'm having the same problem... I was confused since I had this working on my 8100. Anyone have any ideas or troubleshooting tips?
I've been searching for a solution for the past 2 days but can't find anything...

Well ... I'm having the same issue (see my accidental cross post)

It is not CONSISTENT though. It ONLY seems to be an issue between TWO of my accounts and NOT a THIRD!

The changed cascade over TWO accounts exactly as stated here. BUT the new account I added ALLOWS a different tone.

My cascading seems to be between the default BIS acct and one POP acct.

I'm SURE it's a software issue!

Thumbs up

I THINK I SOLVED THE EMAIL ALERT / INDICATOR ISSUE!

This came about from reading one of the other forum topics where folks are complaining about the "low ringer volume" for the 8830.

One person said that he made a NEW PROFILE and he ended up getting higher volume levels (like that of the media player or so). SO I decided to do that to test it.

ONE OF THE UNFORSEEN CONSEQUENCES WAS ...

I was able to assign DIFFERENT notification sounds for each of my three email accounts ... and they ALL STUCK! Unlike the cascading effect as described here.

(1) Go to PROFILES and go to ADVANCED

(2) Hit the MENU button to the right of the trackball

(3) See the NEW PROFILE option

(4) Set up your indicators for the profile. Name it and save

When I did this ... the volume still didn't get higher (I'm not as concerned about that since I'm using a custom WAV file for my ringer) BUT ... I was able to change / assign different tones for each email account without them all changing to the same tone!

I GUESS the issue or "glitch" is something to do with being able to change a default / factory profile setting.

So ... create a new profile and check that out ... post back here since I'd LOVE to know if it worked for you !!!
