Default Hotspot Browser vs. Internet Browser in Advanced Options

Please Login to Remove!

If you configure your Default Browser Configuration to Hotspot Browser (Options - Advanced Options), my understanding is that it will use a configured wifi access point.

If you leave that wifi area, will it jump back to using 3G for internet browsing?

If this is true, doesn't it make sense to leave it at "Hotspot Browser" if it can potentially go from wifi to 3g automatically?

I know on my Curve 8320 if I leave it on HotSpot browser and don't have a Wi-Fi signal, when I try to browse the Internet I get a message stating something to the affect that this browsing service requires a Wi-Fi signal in order to work. So I have to switch it back to Internet browser.

Hotspot Browser will only work with Wi-Fi. It's meant for your own Wi-Fi network plus public Hotspot Wi-Fi services. Internet Browser will select Wi-Fi first, if available, then go to 3G. For those with a small data plan, you probably want to go with Hotspot browser so you don't automatically switch to 3G.

Thanks for the reply. I guess it only makes sense. You shouldn't have to change your default browser everytime you want to go between wifi and 3g.

Thanks santo.
