Sorry to keep asking questions, but which would be best to migrate from my Curve to the Bold. I have no extra software on my Curve.

Which would be better a "Switch Device" on the Desktop manager or just sync with Outlook. I would like to move my password keeper info and the ring tones I use like Ring5 and Noltifiers Nymph which I have been using for a long time. Just do not want to bring anything unwanted from the Curve to the Bold.

What are the plusses and minuses or each.

Didn't experience any minuses when I used switch device except that I had to do some icon movements and folder options cause of the theme change.

Switch Device. The pluses are it gets almost everthing you have. The minus is, if it doesn't work or errors out, just try it again. I had to do it five times once and finally, it proceeded fine.

Syncing with Outlook is not the same thing, and will only move your contacts, calendar, memos and tasks. No personal settings, no applications, etc.

Personally, I would do a good backup first of the old device. Then SDW, and of course Outlook if all else fails.

Then you always have the backup if needed, also.

It's really a personal choice.

I enjoy the initial setup. So I always start from scratch. Setting up Sync to Outlook and everything.

But I don't think you will have any issue with the Switch Device Wizard.

I did not do a "switch device" migration but rather a clean start & sync with outlook. I like a clean start & didn't have a lot to bring over other than what would sync.

If you do a back up as suggested, adding the "stuff" you really need should be easy & you leave a lot of others that you thought you needed but don't really use. That was my approach.

I have always used the SDW and never had a problem.

I just kinda liked the idea of a fresh start but then again the SDW got things warm and fuzzy quickly!

I did a switch device wizard and accidently got my service books in there also... so I had troubles with HTML emails and a couple of applications which I had to manually re-install

I did the switch device wizard without issues. It's even more valuable if you have Blackberry Messenger contacts. The SDW will resolve the PIN switch for you without having to let your contacts know your new PIN number.

If the OP has Blackberry Messenger contacts, the SDW is the way to go.
