I've had my bold a week and love it. I never had a picture phone before (old 8700 work-horse never had it) but now I love taking pictures of my daughter w/ the camera phone. The problem: the pics always blur. I don't have any sort of shaking disability and i'm taking pics in good daylight. but every time i take a pic and send it to my wife, she says "why is it so blurry?" any tricks to improve the camera quality?

This is almost certainly a general photography issue, and not really a Bold thing.

When you take the pic, take note of the ISO speed. I think I've seen it show either 200 or 200+
The '+'. Indicates a faster ISO speed, which would mean a faster capture and less chance for you to get a blurry pic. But the tradeoff for that is more granulation.

A possible workaround would be to test whether using the flash fixes things for you. Try snapping two shots in succession - once how you normally shoot, and once with forced flash, and see if the blur goes away. Hopefully, that doesn't force you to exchange blurriness for overexposure!


Unfortunately, there's no way to force the ISO speed, or you could just step that up.

See how you go with the forced flash and let us know if that helpsxxx8230;

to be honest, bb devices are generally meant for reading emails on the go
if u're looking at taking pics with hp, perhaps u're better off placing your money with sony ericsson hp

I'd love to be able to find a way to force-adjust ISO. I realize this isn't my canon 5D, but for quick captures, i'm hoping for some luck.

I'll try the 2-shots with forced flash to see if that helps.

My pics are near perfect, imho. I love taking pics wherever I go. One thing that bothers me is a tiny green line(kinda like a watermark on our currency) that goes from top to bottom of the screen...but when I take pic that green line doesn't appear on my pics. anyone else have this?

my pics suck with the bold...but this is not a CAMERa...its a berry that has a camera to snap if you need one in a pinch...far from replacing my canon pocket power shot

I cant agree with people saying that the camera isnt good, as it was told already, isnt the gr8est one but really does a good job, at least on mine. No complains (about the camera)

Mine picture quality is poor too. Not a big deal but I'd like something nicer like on the Storm.

All bold cameras suffer from presbyopia. Yes, they're all far sighted. What is needed is for someone to invent a small "corrective" lense that fits in front of the camera lense so we can start taking pictures of fine print, magazine articles, etc.

Sounds like a dead pixel on the camera. But if the line doesn't show on the pics after you took them not sure. Is it there on the rest of the screen when using the BB as normal??

I believe that 200+ indicates that you have sufficient storage space for 200+ pictures. At least, if I set the Camera application to use the SD card, it shows 200+ but if I set it to use internal memory (and if I didn't have much left), it will show a smaller number. That said, I just tried it and it still shows 200+ (but I have 45 MB free atm).

No, its only there on pic screen, which is kinda weird. When I'm using BB in normal there is no "green water mark" like on currency.

Remember that this is a phone, (not a Nikon) and it doesn't have a high-speed shutter. Hold the phone really still while you take your pic, and it should be fine.

mine is poor also. In the bold seems good, but in pc looks not as perfect as a pic of 2MP

Don't try to upload the picture by sending it as an email or text message. Move it to your PC via a USB connection. If you try sending it over-the-air I'm about 100% sure AT&T is compressing the image. I can't speak for the other carriers. the Jpeg format in general is subject to "lossy compression" every time you open and re-save it.

Always use a direct USB connection.
