Default No EDGE after carrier dropping data charges/ GSM only

Please Login to Remove!

My carrier is Rogers. And i'm using the 8100 as a temp phone, as my SE w580i is getting repaired

I got a text a week ago saying i'm being charged for data usage. Not my fault that my w580i used the wrong internet profile, while i was trying to use my unlimited data on my plan.

Just today, we cleared things up with Rogers, and they're dropping data charges. While my mother was clearing things up (as plan was under her name) i put my sim into her SE w600i to see if i can take out the SMS stored in the sim.
And no, my carrier did not cancel any plans or packages "yet"

Promptly after talking with Rogers, i put my sim back into my 8100, and I noticed that i'm no longer EDGE enabled.
It's been all GSM, for at least 6 good hours.
I've checked on my friend's w580i, and the w600i as well. And the phones were EDGE enabled.

I was wondering, does any one have an idea why i'm GSM instead of EDGE?
For the time i've used the pearl, i've ALWAYS had EGDE enabled.
I didnt tinker with any settings.

Any Ideas?

Welcome to the BBForums.

Losing EDGE to GSM can be from any numerous reason, the most likely being a local tower issue or low signal. Try moving to a different location in your area that would get a signal from a different tower and see...

And always, resetting, or pulling the battery to reboot the BB, often regains the EDGE signal.

I've had the battery out of the BB for a good 1/2 hour.
And still no EDGE signal.

I'll see if i get anything outside today.

Thanks

DOuble check with your carrier anent provisioning - the MENSA candidate in support might have been less than thorough in dealing with your changes.

I've been outside with full signal strength, rebooted a couple times, pulling the battery, and i still i cannot regain the EDGE signal.

That's what i've been thinking. It could have been the CSR that did something wrong to my account or plan.

Would that be possible for your carrier to block you from hopping on the EDGE signal?

There's your clue. I bet the "yet" has occurred.

You were correct.
The "yet" did occur when they reversed the charges.

Thanks for your help.
