Issue with 8330
Please Login to Remove!
Hi everyone! Let me first say, I appologize for the questions I'm about to ask as this is my first BB device and I have no clue what I'm doing!
So, this is the Boost Mobile BB 8330. I noticed that I don't seem to have any data services, and yes, I have an unlimited data plan. I don't have a browser icon anywhere on the device, but it is listed under core applications in the application menu. Also, when setting up email, I don't have the option to setup a personal account, only enterprise email.
I also downloaded app world, but it keeps saying it cannot connect to the server for some reason. I can make and recieve calls and texts no problem. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. Well, its the Boost BlackBerry monthly unlimited, so it has unlimited everything.
When I go into that menu, it says *No Entries*. I did what you explained, and it said Registration Request Sent!

Also try a battery pull and resend the service books.

So, I the only way I can see the browser icon is from the switch applications menu. When I click on browser, it says I have no service books installed. How can I get these? Boost support is all automated, so its not even worth calling. Ive tried a few times tonight and cant get a real person....

You have to have a BB data plan activated on your account first, which you say you have.
If you can get Boost technical support or perhaps via their automated line to resend them, that would be one way.
Another would be to log into your BIS site and select resend service books from there.

Thanks guys!
I got back in touch with Boost, and got up to a second tier BB tech, which I then got disconnected from. I called back, and got the low level BB tech. He told me it takes 12-24 hours from activation for everything to work, because the phone has to update with Sprint. Does that sound legit?

Well, good news. Everything is working as it should. The issue now is I only have 7 megs left for app storage. Any tips on how to expand this capacity? I have a 1 gig card in as well.

7 MB is really low. Can't store or run apps from the SD card. Make sure that you move all your photos, music and ringtones to the SD card.
Read the FAQ article on maximizing memory.
Remove the apps you don't use.

Thanks.
I looked through the FAQs, and cant seem to find something that tells me how to move pre-loaded ringtones from device memory to the SD card. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Oh. Well then....
That doesn't really leave me too many options does it? Can I change my apps so they download to my SD card?

I think Dubdub answered that above. The answer is no.
This is one big reason why 5.0 should never (in my opinion) have been released for the 8330. It takes up a tremendous amount of space.
But as Dubdub also indicated above, be sure that any photos, music and ringtones that YOU have loaded are on the Media Card.
And be sure to take the recommendation to read the FAQ above maximizing memory.

AndyT3, you cannot delete your preloaded ringtones from your BB, but you can sure save a lot of memory by loading them on your SD card. Check out Remove preloaded ringtones from device memory and add to Memory Card
. Install the ringtones on your SD card first and your BB should automatically find them when you delete them from your OS load.

Thanks for the reply. I've noticed I've started gettint texts today from 9072 that contain the words brew, then a whole bunch of letters and numbers. Any way of getting these to stop?

Can you log in to Boost and choose numbers/pins to block?

No, Boost doesnt give us that option. I noticed I can setup the firewall on the BB to block texts from unknown numbers. The texts seemed to stop after a battery pull. Hopefully it'll stay that way.
