On a related note our Verizon account manager told us that just one BB device is scheduled for Q3. That's confirmation enough for me that Bold is our best Q3 bet and Thunder will be Q4 at best (or at worst IMO).

anyone hear of the blackberry lightning ;)? It's a touchscreen device, but with suretype like the pearl and the thunder is full qwerty. So i don't think the thunder in portrait or upright will have this suretype. Just like the iphone individual buttons

How about BGR's little rant, lashing out at his detractors? I love it! I guess he got sick and tired of turning the other cheek at all the silly comments he's had to endure on his blog. You go BGR!

I wouldn't bet the farm for the Thunder to be released this year.

Perhaps I misunderstood, but I was under the impression that the Bold was not being designed for Verizon.

I am going to go with Bold/Kickstart being released in August/September, Javelin by Christmas. Thunder I am sure they are pushing for September/October for back to school, but it should definately hit before Christmas

If it is, it is a very well kept secret. There has been 0 evidence of a CDMA version so far.

But you get to pay the extra $$ by the month, freeing up cash for essential items like videogames and gasoline.

Can't see them leaving Sprint out to dry. If there is no CDMA Bold and the Thunder is only for Verizon, that would leave Sprint with just the 8330 as their newest device for the foreseeable future.

It might happen eventually. But I dont think it will be soon. I think it will be more like the time it took for the Curve to go CDMA then the time it took the 88xx series.

I dont see the Bold coming out anytime soon for VZW. The Thunder is going to be either September or October because VZW is going to be putting pressure on RIM to finish this phone for them. And dont say that VZW has no pull on RIM because they do. You think ATT has no pull with Apple? If ATT can do it to Jobs, then VZW can DEFINITELY do it to RIM. In the coming weeks I believe we are going to start seeing more Thunder news.

As influential as Verizon is, they can't make chicken salad from chicken s**t. If its not ready, its not ready. I'm still predicting Q1 09 for the Thunder.

Yes and what does that have to do with RIM being able to deliver the Thunder by years end?

The reports aren't that the Thunder isn't perfected, but that it isn't even working and that it won't be for 4 to 5 mos. RIM will not release a product that is not working no matter what Verizon says, I don't know how many times I have repeat myself.

Well, we'll see when it comes out in two months. Verizon is going to give RIM a kick in the ass. How could you not think VZW has no say in the development of the phone? The media player is being integrated with V-Cast, so VZW must be involved. If VZW has set a deadline, then that is it.
