finding someones location through sms, email, or bbm

Hi, I recently heard a rumor that there is an app out there which allows you to find someone's location from simply texting them or bbm'ing them. Anyone know anything about this spyware?

It's not a rumor. It's totally true.
I'm looking at you right now and I think you should take that tinfoil hat off. You look silly.

Since the OP obviously believes anything he hears/reads... This is called sarcasm. Penguin is being facetious.

True! But I fear that the OP would post this on their social networking site as fact and then the flood gates would open.

For some reason, I suspect crazzydude's social circle wouldn't have a whole lot of impact on the world. Those flood gates would be more like my 2yr old drooling when he sees a package of Toy Story fruit snacks.

The OP doesnt "obviosly believe anything", which is why he is on a forum asking questions!

crazzy d, if you are serious, you need to post some more info....if you have a name for the spyware, a link, something.
But, nothing is going to get on the BlackBerry unless you put it there, or someone gains access to your BlackBerry and puts it on there.
Now other device operating systems, who knows. I haven't checked the news to learn about the latest android malware discovered today.

With an attitude like yours i would be suprised if you even had a social circle to speak of. Jumping down ppls throats for asking questions (in a forum nonetheless)..........a real friend maker you must be!

Re: finding someones location through sms, email, or bbm
There are lots of rumors.
Unfortunately we have trolls, too, and tend to hit first and ask questions later.
If there's no info like an app name or malware name, or something definite you can search, don't pay any attention.
Like everyting else, use your judgement. Just like if someone walked up to you with a glass of something and said, Here, taste this! and you would tell them to bug off, same thing with software. Don't blindly install stuff.
But like I say, that's BlackBerry. Can't say with other OS's that you won't pick up something even if you don't take a drink.

Aiharkness is right. I would suggest you try google search before coming up with such questions. Its of my beliefs there is such a application but you have to install it and accept to give such permissions. Reason why its called spywares.
something like this:
Blackberry Spyware Can Intercept Texts Email Track Users Location
In future, post some link to back up a safe discussion. Some ppl get mad at those that dont search for answers before posting on forum, also, forum is a place for discussion and for that you need some basis not something like: the neighbour of my cousin heard from his brother that... This will just become mockery.
As stated, Forums are for discussions, sometimes you find answers but not always. Something you can be sure, it will expand your mind about the subject.
I hope this helps your way around in here, its a great place!
