Yes, I believe I'll go along with that!

I've not had one random reboot, lockup or hiccup on my phone since going to .113. Maybe I'm just lucky but this OS has renewed my WOW factor in the storm. I was getting 2-3 reboot a day before same goes for my friend. We are both running perfect now too. I'm sorry some of you aren't having the same success as I am

Elusive, I posted my problem in another thread and never got any replies. You seem to have a grasp on this upgrade and I am total n00b. Can you lend me a hand?

From my other post:

When I download the link and install it, it says the wizard is to install v4.7.0 not .113. Also, after removing the vendor file and running the loader.exe nothing really happens. It does not take the 45 mins as described, only about 5secs and the software on the device does not change. I am following the instructions to a T. Anyone help me out?

The download is for verizon storm. I did it. It is 4,7,0,113
I don't think you need to remove vendor xml

Just Rollin he is right you don't need to delete the vendor. The 4.7 is the correct one. Try it without deleting that file. If you need help we can use the bb messenger and I will assist.

doesn't seem as stable as .76

I am pulling the batter 2-3 times a day since installing the hybrid. The camera is quicker. I like the new portrait keyboard. There are plenty of nice improvements. But I might have pulled the battery once a week before. Now multiple times a day.

So far in my opinion RIM has failed with the software on the storm. The hardware is tight. Step your game up RIM.

Are you using the desktop software to install it or are you following the directions as listed? I feel slightly slow cause I cannot figure this out...

Once I ran the exe file for 113 I opened up DM and when I did it said I had some files to update. That's all I had to do

JustRollin... try doing it this way: (because sometimes DM works, and sometimes it doesn't.)

After downloading .113 to your computer from this link: Clicky Clicky

Follow these steps:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
You don't necessarily have to delete the vendor.xml file but I did, and it's working just fine for me.

This worked great, and the improvement is WAY noticeable.
This is the first beta I used, from .75, and I would recommend this without hesitation. Thanks man!

Default Update

Is it important that I back up my device before I update OS? Reason I ask is that I have not been able to back up my system (deleted browser cache, etc.). I want to upgrade but I don't want to screw things up either.

Watoosy only if you don't mind re installing apps and putting contacts in. It's a shame you can't back it up as it will attempt to upon installing the os

Sh-t, I was afraid of that. I guess I need to give RIM a call. I am not worried about my contacts because I sync with my corporate outlook. But I don't want to reinstall apps. Thanks Elusive.

when I updated from .75 to .113 Dm would not let me do a backup prior. so I did the upgrade anyways. during the upgrade DM automatically backed up and reinstalled all my 3rd party apps. (keep in mind if in DM I try a backup it would give me an error and not do a backup, but during the upgrade it backed up automatically and restored automatically fine)

googlemaps
opera mini
data vault

and reset my settings to the same as before upgrade. so maybe you should just do it. .113 is WAYYYY better than .75
