You want to use your bb like a Palm Pilot? What an insult to other BB's, not to mention a waste. Do you know what you are holding in your hand? Its a BlackBerry. If you decide to sell it, send me a PM, and let me put it to good use.

As fas as syncing email, If I am correct, can't be done without a Data Plan being active on the BB. I may be wrong, but this is what I was told when I purchased my first BB a few years ago.

I tried just now to sync all my Outlook data with my old 6510, since it has no Data Plan, the only thing it would do was sync the Calendar, Memo and taks. So i took my sim from my 7510, put it in there and it sync everything.

Your killing me Dawg, I need to upgrade first, still have 7510. lol.......

No, I couldn't get it to sync with or without a sim card unless I used the one in my 7510. (The one with the Data Plan)

Default Allow me to help

5... give me 5, do I hear $55 from the man in central Florida?

I would also agree. Using the BB as a pda only would be a waste of your time and the device's function.

It would be like buying a Dodge Viper or Chevy Corvette to go to the supermarket. Sure it'll get there and back. But it won't be the most efficient and you can't get much while you're out.

Try selling it and getting an escort... I mean Palm pilot with your earnings.

Dawg, Why do you think I got my wife a 7520 before me? As if the Toureg wasnt enough, no, she needed a phone like mine.

Just use a dummy SIM?

Can't you do that on iDEN/Nextel models? You sure can on GSM/GPRS devices.

You really can't sync a Nextel device without an operational SIM card?

That sucks!

Just for curiosity, I popped the SIM outa my 7280 then ran BB Desktop .. I sync'd to my notebook via USB just fine (remember, it will do all the Outlook PIM stuff, just haven't figured out how to do email yet). I don't know about your model, but it seems to work for me???? Why no download BB Desktop and try it out? Can't hurt! Alan

Red face

Just for you guys I tried this myself this morning with my old BB 6510 SIM card WITHOUT activation, the bb will sync everything EXCEPT e-mail. I even tried using that card in my 7510, and my wifes 7520, again no email. So i grabbed my daughters i860, wich is active, but no data plan. Guess what? Again everything except e-mail. So as near as I can figure I'm either doing something wrong, which I doubt since Dawg got the same results, read above, or you can't sync email without an active Data Plan.

Remeber, Nextel requires a Data Plan on all BB's! And like I said before to use a BB just to sync Calendar, Notes and Memo Pad is not only a waste of time but a waste of what the BB was intended to be used for. Just a thought!

Well, I wasn't aware that you could "sync email" anyway without a BES. That would require a data subscription. But you surely can use it as a PIM/PDA with a dummy SIM.

I just don't see why someone would want to!

My sentiments exactly. Thats what my son originally wanted the 7520 for, and I said no way. Now I can't get him to put it down because of everything he found out he can do with it.
