Default edDifference between a software induc reboot and pulling the battery?

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a difference between using a program like QuickLaunch on the Storm to cause a reboot and pulling the battery?

For that matter, is there a difference when an install causes a reboot and pulling the battery?

They both seem to produce the same effect on the screen but is there a difference?

Thanks!

Not sure what or if there is much of a difference, however, I trust removing the battery since it removes all power from the device and effectively terminates any app that might be running. Plus it makes me feel better to do it that way.

According to RIM there is a definite difference between a soft (the three key Alt + Shift + Del key) reset, and a hard (battery pull) reset.

So, I suspect (I don't know for a fact) that QuickPull simulates the soft three key reset, and therefore is not the same thing.

Thanks for the article. It does sound like there is a difference between them but it seems open to interpretation.
