Default SD Cards

I tried an 8G SD micro card in my 8310 and got error messages that there was a disc error. Are these cards too much memory. the guy at the store said that he thought the 2G card was the max. Anyone know? Also is there a patch I could download to allow me to use a card that is more than 2G? Thanks.

Well, I have had now TWO 8gb memory cards for my 8320 BB and I can't get either of them to work. The first I couldn't get to format either on my BB or throug hmy computer. The second one I got, appeared to format properly on my computer, I drug my old information onto the new card and when I loaded it into my BB - it said I needed to format the card. I tried and it just locked up my phone for about an hour. I am on OS 4.5.0.110...guess I'm stuck with me ol' reliable 2gb?!?

Did you read the FAQ article that Thatzmister2u posted? Reformatting might have bricked the SD card.

It sounds like the cards might be bad. Are they name brand cards, or an off brand? Can you return them to the store?

I agree, the first card I think was bad. The second must have burnt up somehow but both were SanDisk cards......

I'm not sure what "bricked the card" actually means - but it would seem appropriate in this case! Tanks for the links, I'm looking them over now!

Can't read my 2gb Verbatim card: similar problem..

I have installed a standard 2gb Verbatim SD micro ram card in my 8330 - it is formatted.. I can tell by removing in and placing it in the reader slot on my laptop - it's all good - I can see the BB folders right there

If I connect my BB to my desktop I can sync my CRM via the BB desktop .

Regardless if the card is in or out of the phone "My Computer" will 'see' removable disk "R" but will always default to "Please insert a disk in to drive R"

..in other words, no matter what I do my computer cannot read the card once it's in the phone..

Between yesterday and today I've spent over seven hours on the web and going through the manual trying to correct this with no success.

I am currently running my BB DM without the Roxio install option in order to simplify things for the moment.

Really appreciate the feedback - New to Forums - New to Blackberry - Not new to computers/CRM's and/or Palm platform :>)
