Default Desktop Manager Silent Install?

Please Login to Remove!

Need a little help from anyone familiar with installing the Desktop Manager software silently. Here is what I've done:

1. I've read the Blackberry Silent install for the BlackBerry Desktop Software PDF file.

2. I've downloaded the latest version (BlackBerry_Desktop_Software_v4.2_Service_Pack_1_( English).exe

3. I've extracted the above file into a folder on my C drive (C:\temp\BB)

4. Using the command found in the PDF (setup.exe /r /f1C:\temp\BB\Setup.iss), and it installs the software but no Setup.iss file is created. Now I noticed that there isn't a setup.exe file, but _setup.exe (which I ran with _setup.exe /r /f1C:\temp\BB\Setup.iss) and nothing happens. Heck, I've even tried running the BlackBerrySetup.exe with the same commands and nothing happens.

So what am I doing wrong?

Figures, no help from the BlackBerry forum, but I found my solution on another forum. So for those who need help like I did, here is the information.

I used the following string to install the software silently (after using Winzip to extract all the files from the Blackberry download).

BlackBerrySetup.exe /s/v USEINI=setup.ini /qn

You will need to add the following to the end of the setup.ini file (you will notice its like an answer file, just like if you were to click through an actual install)...

[INSTALL_OPTIONS]

COUNTRY = United States

SETUPTYPE = Enterprise

REDIRECTOR = Enterprise

MAILSERVER = Lotus

USERS = AllUsers

SHORTCUTSTARTUP = False

SHORTCUTDESKTOP = False

SUPPRESSREBOOT = False

Of course, change the options to match what you want. You can find a list of options in the install.txt file.

Definetly thanks. I've been looking into this for a bit. I've contacted RIM and asked them to tack this onto their Silent Install document which wasnt to clear.
