Default Cingular 8800 Upgrade Price

Please Login to Remove!

I am looking to upgrade from my 8700c to the 8800 in a week or so. What is the current upgrade price? I have received 2 different answers from Cingular CSRs. One said $199 and the other $299.

And if you call back again, you will likely get a 3rd answer. If you can upgrade to the 8800 for $199, I hope you got that CS Reps name and number. Get it and don't look back.

I'm researching a new purchase at present myself. It seems right now that Amazon can get much better pricing via rebates than Cingular themselves can offer.

This seems especially noticable for existing Cingular customers wanting to upgrade after 2+ years of service. I cannot understand why Cingular are actually offering worse deals to existing customers than to new customers.

I just bought mine toady from a Cingular Store and paid $299 for a 1 year contract, I didnt think that was too bad, I too saw the Amazon offer but something in my gut said if it looks too good to be true that it must be. I was worried that they may jack up my account in some way, oh well got my 8800 and thats all I care about!

I've never had a problem with Amazon in the past. I did notice though that the small print says they'll charge back the rebate from your credit card if you breach the terms of the deal. (E.G. Cancelling the service too quickly.)

IIRC When they first started doing this a few years ago they made you wait the 180 days after purchase before you could actually get the rebate. At least now you seem to get it straight away.

Has anyone here actually bought through Amazon recently and can report on the service?
